The washers of this vintage really did hold a tremendous load of clothes, but the dryer would not effectively dry what the washer would wash in one load. They were Franklin design models and did not hold up all that well. The washer had a tendency to walk across the floor with an unbalanced load and the dryers seemed to have a problem with the motor overheating and shutting down frequently on many of them. They had very annoying characteristics when trying to get laundry done.

surprising enough, the ones built in the last 20 years, some hold up well, while others die a quick death.....it was hit or moss with them....

WCI had a gold mine with these...as they switched over to their design.....the quality drop of the materials was beyond obvious.....these machines should have cost 1/2 of what better built machines like a FilterFlo or Kenmore was...yet their prices were only a few dollars cheaper....

never understood why so many people bought them....you think their reputation would have been shot quickly...

I just got one of their portables in......a bit beat up, but still runs flawless....like I said, some withstood a beating...and kept on going...those plastic tubs were never impressive.....but even the metal for the cabinets is flimsy at best...

it is what it is.....
