Has anyone actually seen one of these or the matching dryer? The only Apex I have ever laid eyes on is one like Robert's machine. I sort of wonder just how many of these were produced and where they were more popular. I know some machines were kind of regional. That would certainly be a nice set to own.
The Tide of that era was very high-sudsing. I remember those machines well and how splashy they were. Most of the time it didn't matter how much suds they created because by the end of the wash cycle most of the water that was in the tub had already gone overboard. They were really fun machines to see in action.
About ten years ago Mr. Fox from Fox Appliance Parts explained to us how the "bouncing-basket" mechanism worked. It was very interesting.
I never asked Robert, however, I wonder how that fiberglass is holding-up after all these years. I would think it would get quite brittle and susceptible to breakage especially with changes in water temperature.
