That's a hard one to answer Rob. They both have their quirks. I'd always favoured Hoover machines growing up - not sure why - I think most of the people I knew tended to have Hoover frontloaders or Hotpoint top loaders so that may be why. Now that I have acquired a few older hotpoints I think I'd struggle to take a side so I might chicken out and opt for a Servis Quartz lol
Here's my take of two similar machines that I have - I think the Hoover has the better styling and is a bit quieter but I reckon the Hotpoint has the edge in terms of function. I'm not sure why Hoover stuck with VE outer tubs for example when Hotpoint moved to the structural foam - it seemed that Hoover were the leaders in the early days but Hotpoint took over later on. I do love both though and wouldn't want to choose but be good to see others thoughts. S |

Hoover, definitely. They were far more consistent than Hotpoint. The quality control at Hotpoint was dire. If you got a good one, it could last you a lifetime. If you got a Friday afternoon model, it would be nothing but trouble. And let's not forget the 95 series' infamous side strips and control panel cracking.
