Hello all! I'm new to the forum and I've been chomping at the bit to share this incredible find. It's definitely one of those right place at the right time stories. I stumbled across these beauties on the local Craigslist and immediately jumped at the deal. A matching set Maytag A606S and DE606 with a manufacturer date of July 1970. I bought them from the original owner at a chump change cost of $40! I installed a set of new belts, motor springs, and gave them a good polishing on the Shaded Avocado and they run flawless!

Thanks everyone. The seller was actually the daughter of the original buyer of the machines and told me an interesting story. She appeared to be in her mid to late sixties. For years she and her siblings would handwash the laundry until they became of age and moved out. Well mom and pops decided it was a good time to get a set of machines at that point so the Maytags were purchased. Pops eventually passed and the machines, although lightly used, were retired for a new set around twenty years later. Having the old school, waste not want not mentality, mom couldn't see getting rid of perfectly functional machines so they were stuffed in the corner of the garage. Upon arrival she told me she was liquidating her mothers things so she had either passed or was put into a home. I didn't ask. I think the best part of the trip was driving home in my 68 Chevy 3/4 ton hauling a pair of 1970 machines. Simple pleasures!
