I have never seen this washer before. I assume it's a semi-automatic like the Parnall. It's a Rondo, topload washer with a drum. My guess is that it works just like a frontloader, but when it spins it might work as a vertical axis machine. Not sure though.

Wow Louis, they're really cool. That washer looks a bit like the early Savage machines where you have a low and high speed output shaft. |

What a fabulous laundry set up that must have been, a pre-wash / soak / to boil in the Rondo then a profile wash in the Miele and tumble dry in the Siemens,
quite the set-up !! The Rondo does look like the Savage, tumble washer on the right angled drive joint and tip upright for the vertical drive spin dry...have you ordered the courier Louis ? Heres a few pics of the one over here... |

Need them to zap those appliances from Germany to New York! *LOL*
In a pinch would only take the washer and TL dryer. That Miele washer pulls way too much juice (>6k watts) for domestic use. Well at least on this side of the pond. IIRC the modern "Little Giant" washers and other commercial washers from Miele aren't that far off voltage requirement wise. Low spin speed for the Miele washer wouldn't bother one at all. That is why Miele then marketed spin driers (extractors) and is what one would still use today. |

Hi Louis,
thanks for sharing with us this beautis. The Rondo is indeed very interesting. The Siemens topload dryer is the same as the one that had my aunt. In fact she still has it, but a couple of months ago something has burned and now it is there waiting to be thrown away :( The Miele is simply gorgeous. Build and tough like a "panzer". |

We has a Miele dryer for sale here recently which was somewhat like that washer although there was no indication of whether it was commercial or domestic

That was Miele's first domestic dryer with a sensor. The washer advertised is bigger than this dryer.

If I would be still collecting, that would be my dream machine together with the matching washer.
Here's a Miele ad from the 60's. The bigger washer was not a commercial model, but it demonstrates the difference in size. The washer advertised is a 7kg model BTW, the dial on the left is for the load size.

7 kg would have been a remarkable capacity for a domestic machine back then where I suppose the normal capacity would have been around 3.5 - 4Kg.
Oh well, I least I do have the dishwasher from the advertisement above, even if it is not working yet. And hopefully I will have some more Miele to show soon :) |
