How do you tell if a Kenmore is single speed or two speed? It has a delicate cycle, but no "Two Speed" label.

Yes. Perhaps a Kenmore expert will chime in ... but I think a direct-drive 40/400 series and below would be 1-speed (with intermittent agitation for Delicate). 50/500 probably 1-speed depending on the feature set. 60/600 probably 2-speed depending on the feature set. Sears tends to go wildcard with their offerings so always best to confirm the individual machine. | ||

Customer complaints on single speed machines
I hadn't heard that there were customer complaints on the 1-speed models, but it makes sense.
I could do without a delicate speed on a belt-drive washer, but I used the slow speed wash feature on my DD more than I used the regular. Having fast agitation only would make me adjust my washing habits, as lower water levels seem more like putting clothes in a blender than a washer at times. Gordon | ||
