Hi! I was drawing plans in my kitchen when I noticed a smell of rinse aid during the washcycle of my dishwasher. I have had thoughts of the machine not working well.
The machine was performing a Quick30'-65°C cycle. But at a certain time in the washphase, few minutes after the lid of the detergent dispenser popped open, I heard a click noise. When I opened the dishwasher, the water was foamy as it would be in last rinsephase, the smell of rinse aid was present.
It's not the first time I heard the dispener acting up and I have to say the reservoir is emptying fast, although the setting is set on an average of 3.
Just to be clear, I use powdered classic detergent, so no multipurpose tab etc.
First: Is this normal to dispense rinse aid in the washphase in a Quick-cycle?
Second: Somebody who can help me to fix it? Or am I in the market for a new one...
If it was just a single click, it most likely was just a case of the heater shutting of.
Due to their design, some rinseaid dispenser trigger in unison with the detergent dispenser. Each trigger signal from the PCB activates both actuators. Not sure if ELux does that.
Check if the seal of the dispenser is damaged or not seated correctly
Otherwise, that would be a PCB issue, however, I have no clue how on earth that could create such a symptom. Random triggering just dosen't occur, it would either trigger continusley or not at all.
And if it is only one cycle that does that, well, don't use that cycle.
If it dosen't affect cleaning performance, and it dosen't use a bottle of rinseaid per week, I'd just let it be.
On my Bosch Logixx dishwasher, there is only one solenoid actuator. With a series of pivoting latches, and depending on whether the dishwasher door is closed (upright) or wide open, the latch is set when the detergent dispenser lid is manually closed.
On my machine, when the solenoid fires for the first time, the detergent lid is opened. There is a delay of about 30 seconds before the solenoid returns to its parking position, with a click. As it does so, the latch gate resets to its natural position due to the pivot points's centre of gravity being changed. When the solenoid fires again in the final rinse, the latch levers cause the plunger-seal assembly to actuate, thus dispensing rinse aid.
In my case, my machine was operating as it should, but was leaking rinse-aid continuously. The plunger-seal assembly was worn and not replaceable (moulded as one complete silicone rubber part). I had to buy the complete dispenser.
