Finally!

When you have every modern home appliance manufacture making machines that belong in the dumpster pile the day they leave the factory while only one manufacture makes something resembling what we had 20 years ago it will create a strong preference for that brand.

With that said each and ever day I fall deeper and deeper in love with my Speed Queen top load. Having used modern machines prior its hard not to :)

Long Live Speed Queen!

I read this article earlier:

I never knew I was joining a cult by buying my washer and dryer. But I do love my SQ FL set.
I am not surprised though as the only way to get lasting laundry appliances anymore is to go with commercial machines.

And dishwashers lol. If SQ put there mind to it they could gobble up a large portion of the market.

Can comprehend and appreciate fully electronic controls

In H-axis washing machines. But really see no need for them in top loaders with a central beater. A simple mechanical timer sufficed for decades and don't know why, other than for cost cutting reasons, there was any need to swap them out for electronic controls.

Feel the same way about dishwashers as well.

Electronic Controls In New Washers, Dishwashers And Dryers

combo52's profile picture

While I see your point Launderess Electronic controls really do improve performance, energy efficiency, versatility and make the machines much safer to have in the home. ECs really reduce the chance of flooding, fires and even just bodily injury.

SQ is the only builder of a standalone washer without a computer to run it, but the next generation will need them to get the higher spin speeds necessary for improved efficiency and better performance.

Currently the biggest warranty problem we are have with SQ appliances are bad timers on the AWN432s, we have one customer that we just replaced the timer for the third time in just over one year, our firm has yet to have any problem with the ECs on a SQ TL washer.

Seems the only old-school quality makers left now are Speedqueen, Miele and that obscure and insanely expensive Swiss brand V-Zug.

There are also three other interesting Swiss brands: Schulthess, Merker and Wyss Mirella.

I wish some of those Swiss machines were available here in the US.

Niagra Falls! Fondue stains, no problem! Nestles chocolate stains either. Spill a little Maggi gravy base on your apron, no problem either.
One of my dream trips is on the BLS from Basel through Brigg, over the Bietschstal viaduct and on to Milan. Then return on the SBB Gotthardbahn via Biaschina, Bodio, Wassen, to Zurich from Oltyn.
Of course I have to bring back a Lemaco or Zag model SBB crocodile. Marklin did a platinum model back in 2002. I think they made 50 of them at $30,000 dollars US each. I have the standard and digital Marklin ones.
