A friend has a GE washer, model #GTWN4250D1WS which he got new in 2014. A couple weeks ago he had a power outage due to a storm so he fired up the generator. At some point he flipped the breaker off and back on for the circuit the washer is on and he heard a loud pop inside the washer followed by smoke. After that the washer wouldn't work. He explained the motor has a board mounted on it and it looked and smelled burned. He purchased a new motor/board as the board isn't available separately. After installing the new motor the indicator lights in the control panel light but all the machine will do is fill and drain.
He says there are four separate wire harnesses that plug into the motor. One of the harnesses has three wires. Where that plugged in the original motor had four spades so one wasn't connected. The replacement motor has five spades where the same harness plugs. He wondered if that had anything to do with it not working so he took both motors to the place he got the new one. He said they opened them up and compared and said that shouldn't be the cause of it not working now. He said the board behind the control panel doesn't look or smell burned. But I wonder if that isn't fried also and the cause of the problem? Any thoughts on the matter are appreciated. |
