 I need a new washer and I am torn between a new Kenmore Top loader which is 450 $$$ or this 1988 Maytag washer ... I have never had a old Maytag washer so I have no idea how good they are,this machine is one owner and she is wanting 50 bucks for it. Dude!! 50 bucks with Big time maytag repair info & people here. It's a no brainer.Even if you don't like it you can sell it for that much,probably more if tested & running well. | ||

 Yeah me too Wes, I'd go for the $50 Maytag. As Tim and Duke said, you can always turn around and sell it if you are not happy with it. Mother's Maytag has been going strong since 1994, MIL's also. If I had the storage room I'd go after one myself. Heck, if I could I'd go around collecting every (real) Maytag I found. | ||

I had an older version of that same Maytag-with the original-style Power-Fin agitator, and Helical Drive. When I had to give up the my apartment, I gave it to my grandmother when she moved into a condo. Mine served me well. | ||

The Maytag wins hands down!!!! There was NEVER before or after a better machine built than the Maytag machines built by Maytag at that time. | ||

i would keep the maytag
op if i where you i would keep your maytag washer for the following reasons
1 you have true wash rinse temp this means hot water is hot at fill and warm water is warm at fill and not dumb down like newer models second its also a true fill compare to newer models that do not use much water at rinse and alot of the expert on the site can help[ you keep that washer going for years. | ||
