Here's an article from the Sunday San Francisco Chronicle, a home built in 1950 had the same KitchenAid dishwasher as the Frank Lloyd Wright Falling Water House. KitchenAid paid for the new appliances in exchange for the dishwasher which will be placed in their museum.

Prior planning zero or *F* is for *failing* grade.

About halfway through the remodel, the couple realized they couldn't afford to keep the house.

Rule number one:
Live day-to-day first. (see if you can afford the space)

THEN spend money you don't have for things you dont need to impress others.

We now return you to the theme of this thread. Sorry about that.

HEAVY UMS day. (Ugly mood swings).

What a house!

Thanks for posting that link! Besides my vintage Frigidaire interest, I'm an architecture fanatic and love mid-century modern homes like this. Good to see 'em restored and cherished, I just hope this one isn't sold to someone interested in the proerty alone...Scraaaape! I was dismayed to find one of my favorite MCM homes here in Dallas being replaced with a mc mansion last weekend. And I'm sure it will be equipped with the 'brand-new cottage antique' fixtures that are so popular in kitchens these days. Oh, boy!

I hope KA still gets their dishwasher, what are the chances of the next owner wanting it?

What a fantastic home, and article!
I wish that would have shown the kitchen with the original appliances.
Thanks for the link!

Falling KitchenAid Water

Originally, Fallingwater did not have a dishwasher since it was built before WWII and domestic staff were plentiful. The house was closed during the war years due to a shortage of heating oil and gasoline. The parents spent those winters in the California desert and Fallingwater was generally not used during January and February anyway. After the war, the elder Mr. Kaufmann's health was beginning to fail, household staff were finding jobs in other fields and Mrs. Kaufmann had to devote more time to taking care of her husband. This led to the installation of the KitchenAid dishwasher. After she died in 1952 and Mr. Kaufmann remarried in 1954, the AGA was replaced with the electric stove so that it would be easier for his new wife to do some cooking which she enjoyed. As far as I have been able to find out, automatic laundry equipment was not installed in the laundry room by the garage. On wash day, clothes lines were strung in what is supposedly America's first carport so that the laundry could dry outside while remaining unseen from the house.
