My Mom just purchased a new LG front load WM3670HWA - the Gallery Frigidaire 12 years old bit the dust seemed like bearing issues the unit stopped going into a spin and was making a rattle noise.
We decided it wasnt worth fixing. This new unit is really nice and we did 2 test loads yesturday. Mom seems to be pleased but their is a few issues I am trying to resolve. For instance on my LG I am able to use the extra rinse and water plus options at the same time. On this unit it doesnt let me run it simultaneously? I couldnt figure it out so I contacted LG - after spending over 1 hour on the phone and getting absolutely no where they agreed to open a case and look into it. If anyone can give any info it would be appreciated! |

This is what LG answered me in a email. And to me this is a piss poor solution!
Dear Peter, Thank you for contacting LG Email Services. Good day! We’ve received your email about the water plus function and the extra rinse feature. We completely understand how using both features at the same time could be very convenient for our laundry. Could you please try and follow the steps below? Some models will allow you to use both features at the same time but not before the cycle starts. • Turn on the washer • Select the desired cycle • Select Extra Rinse • Select Start/Pause The unit will run the load sensing cycle, puts water in it and then will start the wash cycle. • During the wash, select Start/Pause button to pause the cycle. • Hit the water plus button once • Select Start/Pause to resume the cycle It should allow the unit to continue with the extra rinse feature activated and add water once the cycle is resumed. Your patience is highly appreciated and we thank you for being the best part of LG! Please contact us again via Email, Live Chat or by calling 800-243-0000 if you need further assistance. LG Electronics is fully committed to customer service and satisfaction. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience and look forward to serving you in the future! Thank you for choosing LG. Please enjoy the rest of your day! Sincerely, Marc Jon Pierre |

Hi Peteski -
At least there is an option for adding more water, they must have had a software change that doesn't allow the pre-selection now. If you reply to them, ask them if they are planning to send you a sticker that says "Semi-Automatic Washer" :-) Hope you are well and mom is enjoying her new washer! |

Thanks Greg,
You are probably right, the worst thing is no one seems to know anything at LG. I am hoping that maybe the Heavy Duty, Bright Whites or Towels cycles might give 3 rinses instead of 2 like the Normal cycle does and we can add Water Plus like that. The manual gives absolutely no information to any of this?? Amazing how everything is made so complicated that shouldn't be. I will keep all posted. Anyone with a similar washer that can add input would be appreciated. |

Hey Peteski,
On the machines from LG I have/had,the water level was adjustable by the turn of a screw on the pressure switch located in the back of the unit under the top. Mine fill to the boot just below the window. It makes a difference especially in the rinse. It also makes watching a bit more exciting. I use Gain liquid and the matching fabric softener. The loads come out clean and fresh smelling and the final rinse water is clear leaving water "dancing" on the window as it spins 1600 rpm. |

Chris I hope you get good results, keep me posted! I did hear further information that in order to get 3 rinses you need to use the heavy cycle or the whites cycle and possibly towels cycle. And just adding water plus should give good results. I am still pissed that no one at LG knows anything about anything! The documentation in the manuals sux! These are also simple questions that shouldn't be a problem for LG to answer.

Hi Peter! I have the very similar 3570 and love it. Mine has the turbo wash recirculation system, but does not have the water plus feature. The towels cycle does have a higher water level and three rinses. You can add more rinses to that if you want.
The machine really does a great job of washing and rinsing. I hope your mom enjoys her new washer.

Hi Peteski. I checked every cycle on my LG, and none would allow Water Plus and Extra Rinse. I know it sucks that we cannot select both, but I am at least glad to hear that there is a workaround if needed. |

Yes, there was a 2006 Frigidaire set in the laundry room previously. You may have remembered it from Revin Kevin's towel test threads we did with the 1955 Frigidaire pair.
I gave the 2006 Frigidaire set to my son and daughter-in-law when they bought a house and they are still going strong. I decided I wanted a front loader that had an option to heat the water. |

It was a long day with Mom doing errands and catching up on things. We managed to get 4 loads of wash done. First we did a load of mixed items with towels and various other items. We used the Brights Whites cycle. Set on normal soil with water plus option. It registered at 1hr 22 mins. The wash cycle lasted maybe 20 mins and didnt use much water at all. But it rinsed 4 times with water level just below boot on door. She is a big bleach user so this cycle is perfect and will rinse away all residue. Next I did my load of laundry I brought with me which included towels, under wear and white socks. I dont use bleach. I decided to use Heavy Duty - it bumps the soil up to heavy - I changed it to normal soil with water plus option. It registered 1 hr 52 mins. Again water in wash was kind of low but clothes were completely wet! I was doing so many things around the house that I could tell if it did 3 or 4 rinses. But it was at least 3! And they also filled with the water level just below boot on door. It was one hell of a long wash. Next Mom only wanted to do a real small load. It only had 1 pair of jeans and a sweat shirt and some socks. We put it on Speed Wash with extra rinse. It registered 23 mins. The wash was about 5 mins with 2 rinses and no spins between the rinses. This small load come out good. Last she wanted to do 2 sets of queen sheets she had saved up. I was going to have her run Normal but she insisted on using bleach so we used Brights Whites cycle again. Results were great. It is impossible to use all these options. I am impressed that using the water plus option gives decent deep rinses. I just really wish we didnt have to go through all these contortions to accomplish washing the way we want to. And I also wish LG could have given me this information without such a hassle. Anyone with more information please keep me posted.

Hi Bobbi thanks for the information. Like I said I was not sure if the Heavy wash did 3 or 4 rinses? But when it adds water at the end of the wash I think at that point it is adding the bleach as well completing the catalyst wash process. I do like the deep rinses with the water plus option!
Hi Chris I do remember pressing the extra rinse and the '1' displayed on the console. When I pressed it again it just went off completely! How come you returned the machine? |

I got to do a load of laundry in the washer. Big load of mixed stuff. Used the Heavy cycle with Normal soil set. I set with water plus. It started at 1 hr 32 mins and did 3 complete rinses. The water level in the wash was low until the last few minutes of the wash filled to a better level! ( I Think that is when the bleach is dispensed) and all 3 rinses used a good amount of water just below door boot! I just wish that all these cycles were better discussed in the manual. Mom still has not used all the cycles and probably never will. I tried to encourage her to use the steam option instead of using bleach and of course she doesnt want to hear it!

Welcome to the club. The 3670 is a real nice machine. I have tried to watch the cycles and how they work when I go to my Moms but it isn't always possible! I still want to find out about the Towels cycle? Like I said before you cant use extra rinse and water plus options at the same time. I have the smaller compact combo and I can use both options at the same time. But mine doesnt have as many cycles as the 3670! Mom has the washer since April and she said she loves it. And she likes it better than the Frigidaire gallery she had for 12 years that she really liked.
I haven't asked her what cycles and options she has been using! Once you get past the learning curve in operating it - I think you will love it! |

machines online yesterday - As much as I feel more comfortable with WP/Maytag - I've always liked LG's options and wash action better. I noticed that if you buy an LG that has a heater (from what I can tell) you can either get turbo wash or water plus (excluding a few models) but never both on ONE machine. I wonder why?
Also, if the LG's do deeper rinses with water plus, yet it still does low water washes - that actually perfect - U want more water in rinses than in the washes. I may get an LG next if/when my Duet ever dies - but I definitely will never get a Samsung. |

Actually you can use extra rinse but if you try to select it with the water plus option they cancel each other out! As far as the hot line they know absolutely nothing. On my combo 24" model that is 5 years old I can use both options at the same time. But the 3670 has so many more cycles like heavy that use 3 rinses and whitest whites that use 4 rinses without the extra rinse option. I still want to try the towels cycle to see how many rinses you get without using the extra rinse option. What pisses me off is the manual doesn't describe the amount of rinses for each cycle. And it doesn't say that one option cancel out the other. What happened to the days when you could do anything you wanted with the Normal cycle? They keep making these things more and more complex!

Nice to find this thread. I'm considering a 3670 and companion gas dryer, stacked, in graphite steel color. It will be in my kitchen so it has to look good. A few people I know who have had LG washers have been happy. |

Mark actually water plus does not give you a extra rinse! It makes the water level higher on the rinses. From observing you get 2 rinses on normal cycle, 3 on heavy duty, and 4 on whightest whites! that is without using the extra rinse option! so you get better cleaning if you use the additional cycles asside from normal cycle with the water plus option! On my LG combo which is 5 years old I can use both the water plus and extra rinse at the same time. But I dont have all those extra cycles. In mine I do most jobs on normal and modify that cycle the way I want. I believe this is probably due to these newer energy restrictions! But I am not sure and at LG they know nothing!!
On the 3670 I still havent tried the Towels cycle to see how many rinses that one gives?? so if you select extra rinse yeah you get the extra rinse but you get less water! |
