lots 'o rollin' goin' on!
Very clever design work by GM imo. The outer tub is also available to anyone who needs one... mostly dirt in there, minor surface rust only, no rust thru, very solid. Sorry! the entire dryer was previously donated to a lady who needed one! I'm saving everything from the washer except cabinet, base, and larger tub. Hopefully will have in store any parts my other 1-18 will need in the future! A member from MI had asked me to save the avocado cabinet for him in February, but now informs me he doesn't want it, so it's up for grabs, in nice shape.

the big nut on the agitator shaft (not visible at the top of this pic) inside the tub was a real BEAR to get off, as one might imagine after near 40 years, plus the machine setting outside for some period of time. The manual says "remove nut from shaft using factory tool xxxx" which, of course, one never has. I had to put 4 Grade 5 bolts (4 regular ones just bent!) thru the 4 holes in the square plate underneath the big shaft nut and Gorilla tape the heads to that plate to hold them in place, when turning the nut the bolts in the upper plate (normally just above the lower plate, shown elevated in this pic) will then hit the lower plate underneath it so that the agitator shaft won't turn when applying rotational force. The red-handle putty knife represents the outer tub in this pic. Even after soaking with Kroil for a week I still had to hit my biggest wrench with a 2 lb. BFH to break the nut loose it was so tight.
