Hello - inspired by all your amazing spaces to house washers etc , last year I started to convert the utility room at my mums house to become a mini wash room for some of my appliances. In the U.K. We don't tend to have basements in our homes and as both mine and my mums are terraced houses built in about 1890 , neither house has a garage. Hers being a bit more luxurious than mine had an original wash house built in. It would have housed a coal fire copper boiler for boiling clothes. When she moved into the house in the early 1990s it still had the chimney and sky light. Over the years we plumbed in her modern washer and it became a dumping ground and home for tools and paint. Last year I stripped it back and plumbed it to take 3 vintage automatics and room for a twin tub. I could theoretically get another auto front loader in if I placed her dryer on the counter but it is her area so the worktop is useful for garden tasks. All 4 of my machines need a little work but now it's clean and dry safe place to enjoy the machines. Hope you enjoy the pictures. Richard

The first picture wasn't how we lived with it. That's after I started to strip out cupboards etc. So it looks more of a mess than it was ! Ha ha

Hi Richard.

The space is delightful. Really clean and oozes laundry room atmosphere - your machines look really at home there and a great room to tinker with them.

The photos of your LT really bring home just how BIG they really are - makes your Hotpoint top loader almost look like a compact!

Your machines positively gleam under the lighting, with the blue of the Keymatic wrap around having a lovely sheen.

Congrats.
Paul

What a beautiful and cozy space! Nice job maximizing every inch. I appreciate your work as I've been there myself trying to make the most of a small space. Great job and thanks for sharing!

Good for you. I like the way you hang up the clothes to dry after you have washed them. I love to use these old machines. Happy washing, Gary

Great space you've created Richard

And a great selection of machines for the smaller washroom, apart from the machines being such iconic and fantastic washers, you have machines that don't have matching dryers, so no temptation to fill the room with stacked sets, therefore your small room feels more spacious and light.

Enjoy your washing

Mathew
