And nothing less than eight burners will do, there is this very nice Town & Country range with three ovens and a griddle in addition to eight burners... They are seeking offers and it must be removed by next weekend, along the New Jersey shore. A great opportunity for someone with the (huge) kitchen for it and who does a lot of entertaining!

What a beauty. I bet with a good clean up and restoration this will be a true gem. Have always wanted to see one of these "real time".

Oh, I've had one.  It was like an ocean liner.

I bet it was like an ocean liner....  I have always had a gas range with an electric oven.  Have never cooked with a gas oven.   I remember a discussion, here, several years ago, where someone pointed out the differences in a gas and electric oven.

Does this range have a pilot light?

It has

A BUNCH of pilot lights, These bake wonderfully because they have a modulating thermostat, in other words the flame lowers and raises instead of being off and on, much more even and accurate temperature.

Godfather stove,

is it 72 inches? Must weigh a quarter ton. Six men to move it, and the two on the sides have to move away so it fits through door ways.

Neat hood idea also.

Hans, I had never known this about a gas oven (modulating thermostat)....also, I bet that range was a nice one in the Winter months.   Man, can you imagine in the Summer with a bunch of pilot lights?

What a cool stove, LOVE that is has 8 burners!  I'm pretty sure it only has 2 ovens though, I'd say the center door is storage or maybe a broiler.

Middle upper door is a another broiler. This stove has 8 burners, griddle, 2 ovens and the 3 broilers. But only one storage drawer under the middle broiler door and many pilots. 12 burner knobs to be in control of would not be easy.

Old Roper Gas Range

combo52's profile picture

It is around 6 feet wide and while heavy it is not nearly as heavy as many of the [ so called ] professional ranges are today.

While it has 8 burners, it has no high-power burners, two small ovens, but it does have a nice big griddle and a high center broiler.

It best feature is the vintage look, other than this you would be better off just getting two 30" ranges and installing them SXS if you are serious about cooking and not spending the rest of your life cleaning an old range.

I'm a serious

cook, and one 30 inch range does me fine. I have a 2007 model year now, and the oven acts up on occasion above 425 degrees f. It shuts down with an F9 door error code. Once it cools down some, it can be re started from 350, and once the cooling fan in the back comes on, it works fine. I have to pull it out of the cabinets to service it, and it is heavy. That's if it is the squirrel cage fan and not the control board.
My step son used to cook with his ear buds on, and he flooded the cook top with oil. Some must have gotten below the right front high power burner knob igniter switch. It caught fire, and the igniters were replaced, but the board may have been further damaged, and is just now acting up.
So I have my eye on a dual fuel Kitchen Aid with the cobalt blue front for the future.

Good grief!!! That thing is enormous!!! That would mean I would feel obligated to cook.

Anything that big should pay half the rent!

You're right Larry with all those pilots, since pilots waste on average 1/3 of yearly gas usage. You got the equivalent of 2 apartment size 20" gas stoves with a fitted griddle with and upper broiler in the middle. My 30" gas Whirlpool works fine for me but I could easily cook everything on 1/3 of that stove. I would swear if those top burner knobs were turned 180 degrees, they would be the same as the ones on our Kenmore growing up.

Boy that is an ocean liner. I have to have a big family to justify putting it in my kitchen or a pantry (LOL).
