Someone thought it was worth the back trouble. Ad is deleted! I can tell you about backaches with these things….I just moved a KitchenAid version into my house. Close to 600lbs and 1/4" ceiling clearance. I still can't move my body worth a damn after all that work...

It's looks very clean. It's a big'un. Plans for it?

Oooh, you have a ton of photos to view. I'm behind on my flickr photo plans, but

here's my small assortment - missing ALOT of my appliances, small or large.

Thanks for sharing; enjoy looking at what others enjoy.

Phil

Allen, that KitchenAid looks pristine. How tall is it?

Phil & Louie~

Re; my new (to me) KitchenAid. It's a 1989 year, 35" width, 24" depth. Cabinet is 74" tall, about 83" including compressor area. I had to remove the four wheels underneath in order to clear my kitchen soffits. A very, VERY tight fit in an incredibly narrow kitchen space. But it's in.

Yeah--it's very pristine. I found it months ago and really wanted it but was trying to exercise self control. I finally went back and tested it for a few days just to feel comfortable about doing it--I figured if I was going to break my body moving it, the damned thing had better run right! Inside and out, it shows as well as a gently used year or two old machine.

I was told it came out of a Scottsdale guest house and had practically no use. I can tell you that every internal piece (ice maker area, all plastic shelving, etc. has zero discoloration and is slick and glossy as factory new. It's unreal. No sign that the ice chest has ever had anything run through it. Only a few very minor and expected light scuffs on a couple metal shelf edges in the fridge. It was really treated nicely!

One helluva deal at $100 plus the $19.95 Uhaul van rental. The only thing damaged in the move (besides my back) was the starter relay on the compressor. Got the unit installed and it wouldn't start--the little relay rattles like they do when they die, so for now I've got a Supco 3-in-1 starter/capacitor hooked up to it until I get a replacement part fitted. Temps hold nicely with the dials set per factory setting of midpoint/12 o'clock on their respective dials. I'm really happy so far! What I DO have to locate is an original grille assembly for it. Someone neglected to include the one this had so right now I'm working on modifying a SubZero grille as a temporary solution. If you guys ever come across an early style as seen in the pic below, please alert me. They aren't just laying around--I've been looking for a long time!

Phil~re your '64 Sylvania on Flickr

funktionalart's profile picture
I WANT THAT!! One day I will get around to photographing my '64 magnavox for you. It's black lacquer Chinese/Asian modern style (1 of 2 I've ever seen in my life). Very cool. But That one you have is just beautiful…very "me".

Thanks Allen

I've since seen only one other on CL..that was top of the line back when. I like those Asian styles. RCA had one and I chased it(photos from Gainesville, FL ad a while ago). Eventually(and it took some time)the seller replied and said it was sold. Thanks - would love to see your Maggie.

I like that RCA as much, if not more than, my magnavox! Stunner. This pic is one identical to mine….I found it online a few years ago and saved the jpg. Mine is in a hard to access space…will have to clear out and photograph properly….hope this gives you an idea. Pic doesn't blow up larger very clearly at all...

Allen, it's in jaw dropping condition. And a steal for $100+. Pity, something like that wouldn't fit in my kitchen, I'd have to rip out the overhead cabinets. I'll keep a look out for that top grill. Hope your back has recuperated!

Phil, all of your consoles are gorgeous, but wow,  I second Allen's comment on the Sylvania! Stunning cabinet!

$100! Yeah, you are the man of finding deals.

That's a nice Oriental design, too, Allen. Sandwich warehousing? If you get yours out some day, maybe you can add images into Flickr?

The doors of my Sylvania are those vertical slats...they move to the inside to reveal the speakers. These were certainly show pieces in their days; not sure who did the cabinet work, but it's very nice...and nicer to get it restored(needs recapping).

Louie - thanks.

I thought, don't tell me Allen tried to get that built-in refrigerator in the back of his Mercedes. Then I saw that you have circumvented no longer having your truck by renting a U-Haul. I will admit that Craigslist-pricing these expensive refrigerators makes them difficult to resist.

Joe! Yeah…having that car keeps my fridge habit well at bay. Have to say though…this desert heat does its part, too. At least I got this job done before it hit 100 degrees out here. Rented a brand new 9' cargo van to keep the sun off it while in transport. Made handling it a lot less painful! But I will never do one of these again until I have a house with 9 or 10 foot ceilings. I can *just* get a piece of cardboard to fit between the ceiling and the top of this refrigerator. Was not a fun job.
