The much sought after 806 set. Kinda steep for working condition unknown.

What is a coppertone set doing on the Avocado Highway?

You know they weren't painted over...or if so, someone is very good at shaded finishes.

The price is way too high.

whirlykenmore78's profile picture
Considering they show "a little wear" and it is unknown if they work or not I would not pay over $100. If they both work and are as clean on the inside as they look on the outside $200.

They are worth whatever someone will pay for them.

They likley are in very good shape for their age, the $400 price is the least of any serious collectors problems however.

IMO Maytag had the best looking shaded Coppertone.

What is the full choice of colors offered in the 806's lifetime?

I'll Start the list:

White

This is another exact set that I had at one time for my daily driver. Good set, the dryer just barely held the largest load of towels I could wash in the washing machine. The later dryer design held a bigger load.

I contacted seller. He does want $400obo, no typo there. He gets his number from Ebay apparently.
I called to see if he wanted to trade, i would prefer an electric dryer.
He says he has people kickin' the tires this weekend...i'll check in again later.

Yellow

Castillian Yellow was available in the (80*) series until California Gold (Harvest) was introduced. See reply # 3 in the link.

Dang, that took awhile!

CONGRATULATIONS on that coppertone 806 set!

That looks exactly like my coppertone 806 I use as my daily driver. It's hard to tell but, is the knob on your's acrylic or metal? Mine has the acrylic knob.
I don't have the matching dryer. I have a harvest gold 808 dryer on the side lines waiting to be paired up with the coppertone 806 washer.

Once again, CONGRATULATIONS!
Doing the HAPPY dance for you on this side of the computer...

They are in very nice shape.
I have not tested them yet, and have no plan to do so for many months.
I had a similar pair in white that was a suds saver, I needed the space and sold those to another member here who expressed interest.
I can’t pass stuff up but my space is limited. I am the only one on this website with this problem, everyone else here either has large underground bunkers or decommissioned dirigible hangers they use to store their machines...lucky them ;-]

Is that the Akron

Goodyear blimp hangar?
I hope I don't see it over my area again soon. The last time was in June of 2008.
That week, we got canned from our jobs, along with thousands of others no doubt that year.
It was a bad thing when the only ones employed in our family were our teenagers.

Question about these.

Are they both in working order and does the washer have the tub light and bleach dispenser?

Do they work?
