 Maybe the apt. was set up for a gas range. A friends son got an apartment once, and she said he said he needed an electric stove. So I found one, took it over, got in the kitchen, and saw a gas pipe coming up through the floor, and a 110 outlet on the wall. He thought the 110 outlet was all that was needed to run an electric range.
