Isn't this a microwave oven?
The ad suggests it's something else! "This is a very rare vintage 1968 "Electronic Oven" which was the precursor to the micro wave oven. The oven does work well and heats and cooks better than our new microwave. 15" D x 18.5" W x 14.75" H The model # is KSA-8093A. Please keep in mind that this oven weighs close to 75 lbs. and I am not kidding. The walls must be actually lined with lead. Note the aircraft window. The light, timer and bell all work. It is a real piece of Americana manufactured in Japan....." CLICK HERE TO GO TO ovrphil's LINK on Toledo Craigslist |

If it is a Monkey Wards, there is a good chance it was made by Tappan. |

It is made in Japan, it has nothing to do with makers like Tappan.
If this oven cooks better than their new MWO they must have bought one of the $29 models. This MWO is probably only about 500 watts and probably only weights about 40 pounds.
Still it is probably well built and a little bit collectable if you are a MWO nut like me and others here. |

It does remind me of a basic Tappan. This is the one still at use at work. That said I believe you John.

Hi Will, while the Tappan MWO you posted looks similar [ many cars look somewhat alike for example, but are not built by the same company ] to the one for sale it actually does not appear to share any exact details, if you can snap a picture of the interior of the one you use at work and I think you will see they are very different units. |

And who made them for Tappan would be interesting to know too!
My 1971 Tappan Electronic Oven was made by Litton for Okeefe & Merritt (that's what the tag says!) and it already has a Japanese magnetron (Toshiba I think). I have seen larger Wards MW ovens that did look very similar to mine too!
