Hi:

Members were incredibly helpful as I put the old family dishwasher back to work. We love it and our kitchen is tiny so wheeling it in and out is worth the gained cabinet space to us.

After 2 years of daily use it stopped washing yesterday. Water flows into the dishwasher as it should when the cycle is started, but is immediately pumped out as fast as it comes in. Incoming water stops at the appropriate points in the cycle but pump out continues. There is no spray at all.

I don't have a drawing; is there a float switch that may be stuck? Or does this happen if a solenoid on the outbound side is stuck open?

Before I start pulling off the skins I'm hoping some of you may be willing to share your thoughts?

Thank you in any case!

Mike

C76 is not a KA DW model #

So I am not really sure what machine you have. But if it has a drain valve it could have something stuck in it holding it open and allowing the incoming water to floe out as fast as it comes in.

It also could have a bad DV that would need replacement.

Methinks that you have a drain valve issue. If its a portable Deluxe as you say it is, take off the lower front panel and the valve is right in front on the left if I remember correctly. It should be vertical where the hose from the pump goes into the back of it and the bottom of the valve feeds the drain hose for the unicouple. It can be taken apart for cleaning. More than likely that it your issue. This machine's motor runs in one way only and constantly during the cycle except for dry.

THANK YOU!

Once again my thanks for all of your help and kindness. Sure enough, 20 minutes and a toothpick later our dishwasher is again making those distinctive happy sounds. Best regards and a big clean THANK YOU to all!

Mike, you were wise to seek advice here first.  Any repair tech you might have called would have lazily and incorrectly advised you that it wasn't worth fixing.   Keep this in mind next time one of your appliances has a problem.

I love seeing someone get helped with a problem like this. This site is far more valuable than many think. Glad I found it.
