GregM was recently here for a visit and brought a machine he found a couple of years ago. I'm planning on combining this with another Philco that I found on the South Dakota farm for one good Automagic washer. I will just take a few parts from the farm machine as this one is obviously much better! Thanks again Greg, it was great fun having you visit for a few days and thanks to Ben as well who came out from Cedar Falls, IA for a couple of days to play washers and stereos!

A little work to do here, but everything seems to be OK from the outside! No water appears to have gotten into the mechanism so we'll hope for the best...

And yes, I do have the agitator parts - Greg brought them with the washer, but they had already been removed.

Oh, that will be very kool to play with. I can't remember how fast those old solid-tub Philco's could spin. Do you have the info. on them? I guess I remember more of the perforated tub type.

Glad to see the gypsy Philco is gonna be restored - that's the one that started at the curb in Albany and travelled west via Worcester.... those crazy Yankee directions!! Good work, Greg M!

Greg that Automagic is just GEORGOUS! I love the font where it says "Automagic Washer". Do you happen to know what model # it is? That machine is absolutely worth a thorough restoration.

Steve Philco washers from 1959 and 1960 spin at 550rpm.

Greg - this will be a great project to keep you occupied - as if you don't have enough to keep you busy already! I had a great time in Omaha with you, Skyler and GregM! Looking forward to another visit, sometime soon.

Ben

Timed fill?

What a cool machine! (At the risk of sounding like a broken record, Philco had some of the most awesome looking machines ever produced!)

I hope that the restoration process goes as smoothly as possible. I can't wait to see pics.

Is this a timed fill machine?

What are those buttons near the Philco logo in the left do?

Mike

Hi Greg

What a superb looking machine, if you hadnt seen the lid you`d swear it could be a duke box or radiogram style controls, all solid n square.

Looking forward to seeing it in action??

Cheers, Mike

p.s. new washer in the background, whatever is happening??

Another very rare machine! Seems like they are coming out of the woodwork this summer. Congrats on getting this Philco for your collection Greg! Can't wait to see the restoration on this 1960 Philco.

What type of agitator action do the Phillies have? While I've seen a few of them in the video clips, I haven't quite been able to place how they work. They don't seem to be the typical back & forth action like the usual TL has, nor are they the up & down movement like the Fridigaires have. It looks sort of like the agitator "orbits" sort of like sander, or goes from side to side, sort of like stirring a mixed drink or something.

That's certainly a nice looking machine! Hope it goes together Ok.

Greg,

I'm glad that you got this great machine to use with the farm machine's parts. Best of luck on the restoration. I'm sure you'll make it perfect like all the rest of the pieces in your collection.

Rich
