I would guess this is the beginning of laundromats in this country. Before my time since I have never seen an old Bendix laundromat. The oldest ones I recall were Westinghouse slant front loaders.

Wonder if the Bendix washers were coin-op or if the attendant simply collected money from the customer? Bet the dryers worked overtime to compensate for the slow spin speed, LOL.

Edit: The ad says 'self-service' so they must be coin-op.

I googled "telecoin system" and it seems they had no dryers. The customer would take the damp laundry home and hang it to dry.
