A lady I work with told me yesturday her late husband used to repair washers in the Columbus area for decades and that in her outbuilding she has maybe 18 old washers and dryers she wants gone. I went and looked and she stated he used to sell duomatics and other philco and westinhouse products but he would keep a few traded in machine that he thought were cool. Well most of the machines in the outbuilding are duomatics and a few other such front load machines which is awesome and which all I will keep. However, in the corner is an old Apex top loader which I really don't know much about and really don't want so I thought if someone here would like one I would give it to them or do a simple trade for a westinhouse or so forth. Its kinda hard to get to at the current moment so I can only give few clues of its identity. It is white and has no console on the back just two knobs on the front corners of the top and a round glass window in the lid. There is a chrome strip running around the center of it but I can't tell much from the middle down as it is behind alot of other things....the guy also collected lawnmowers it appears. I am going in two weeks to get all the machines so if someone wants the apex we can talk if not I have no need for it and it will either sit in my garage or go elsewhere.

Christmas does come early, AND there`l be NO danger of this one going anywhere else!!
So is it like the philco but the whole tub wobbles?
Can the agi tub be removed by lifting out or is it screwed down?
Enjoy, Mik

Robert, it is so great to see you so excited and happy about this great find. I know you have wanted an Apex for as long as I've known you. Seems like so many club members find some of their favorite machines but this time it's you, our fearless leader, that has hit the jackpot. I love the pics of that slightly older model with the cool back panel. Hope the machine gets to you soon and safely and that it needs little work

Had to make him work for it.

All I can say is I knew what it was and I knew some people wanted it but I just put it on here and thought if our leader wanted it he could e-mail me. I am giving it to him for nothing so I don't think my intensions could in any way be considered evil or mean spirited. If it brings him so much happiness then I told him he could have it for free.

OHMIGAWD!

I'll bet everyone is just twitching and shaking! I know I was so excited when I found that Thor-O-Matic(rebadged Power-Surge). I was ticked off to have that crummy little rental car and not my Ford Ranger pick-up or Dennis and I would have whipped that thing outta there right away! When I tried to call Robert, I was so excited that I probably did not even make any sense to Neal or the answering machine. I just kept on pinching myself saying "You really are seeing this-It's not your imagination or the jet lag"
John-When you found this machine did you know how rare it was and did you have the same kind of crazy reaction as I did? I nearly wet my pants! Thank the Washer Gods-Its been a great summer

If the tub bounces at 610 BPM, do you think you will have the same trouble making a movie of the Apex operating as you do the Pulsamatic, i.e., the tub bouncing too quickly to be adequately captured on video?

Apex vs. video

610 BPM is 10 Bounces per second. Video runs at 30fps and some internet video can go even 15fps.
But when you get video compression, streaming and even de-interlacing involved, that could mess up the whole thing
I have video in DV format of Robert's Multimatic and on my TV I can see it pulsate just like I was standing there.

I might have to have larger files for the DSL/Cable crowd.

Google video

Record the whole cycl
Convert to 768k WM
Upload to Google video
Post the link
O
Upload it as an mpeg2 or DivX file so we can download directly and burn it to a DVD.

YouTube has a 10 minute limit on all videos Jason
Uploading an 30 minute MPEG2 would blow our bandwidth usage out of the water and probably get us temporarily shut down :(

Update on the Apex Wash-a-Matic

unimatic1140's profile picture
I just wanted to give everyone an update on the Apex. I spoke to John tonight and he is doing well after his surgery and he is now recuperating at home. He and some friends are coming to Minneapolis over Labor Day weekend and will be driving the Apex out then. I'm looking forward to meeting John and seeing my dream machine come true after all these years. Pictures to come as soon as the machine arrives here.

Hi everyone.
I was just looking at the post of the ads on this thread. They are great.
Was wondering if Apex had a dryer it paired up to? And if so, did Apex build the dryer?
This Apex washer is truly a great looking machine.

Well, maybe old technologie in a new washer maybe this could be a good washer now. Low consumption and good cleaning (at least i hope). Keep in touch with us with news or maybe pictures?
