Sean,
The link you have on your post isn't working. I assume you are trying to post pics of your daily drivers.

Click on "add files" that is in the grey photo box area down below. Your computer should open your pic file for you to choose the pic you want to post. Once you locate it in the file click on it and click "Open". the pic will upload into the photo box down below. You can post up to 20 pics. Just keep repeating the process.

Once finished click on Preview Message and you should see a preview of your pics...provided you did everything right. Once everything is previewed click "Post this to Discuss-o-Mat"

Good luck!

Washdaddy- (Rick)

Actually this is not 1985 it is 1980 - 1983 set and the first series made after the center dial models. This was the replacement for the 806!

So it is not a 1985 Maytag?

maytag85's profile picture
So this machine is not from 1985? Interesting. I thought it was from 1985, but I guess I was wrong all along. After all, it is from 1983.

Load sensor agotator

maytag85's profile picture
I still have the terquiose Power Fin agitator, but I decided to put this agitator on. The 1997 Maytag Dependable Care washer that was at my old house had the same exact agitator, but we left it behind for the person who was buying the house.

Those are the same vintage as my 511 washer and 410 dryer before they put a gold band around the Maytag logo and said Heavy Duty. Come on, mine have worked flawlessly with 1 repair since '83 If mine are not already a Heavy Duty I dont know what is. But the extra buttons like those would be nice as my washer is just a Fabric-Matic large capacity and dryer is Auto dry and both work just fine for me and I refuse to part with them.

Thanks for finding the broucrere! The dryer has a bell like the old Maytag Halo Of Heat dryers. The dryer does a good job at drying, but since my parents' have solar, and natural gas is not all that cheap anymore, it would make sense to get an electric dryer. I hope to get I am able to get the electric version of the dryer someday.

Love Maytag!

maytag85's profile picture
I have this set sinse Auguest of 2016. This Maytag Washer and Dryer has never gave me trouble at all. When I got this Maytag set, I cleaned a lot of lint out of the dryer. When I was cleaning the dryer, I found $5 in change in the dryer. Guess the previous owners' did not even bother to check their pockets. And by the way, got this Maytag for the best price: FREE!

Old Maytags are King!

maytag85's profile picture
The 1980's were probably the last full decade of true Maytag, before they built the stupid Neptune front loaders. The last true Maytag my parents' bought new, was the 1997 Maytag Dependable Care washer. I don't even know why people continue to buy front loader, they don't c
Ean as well, take forever to do a load of laundry, and use more electricity, because it has to run for at least a hour and a half. I guess Speed Queen is the new Maytag LOL!

Maytag!

peteski50's profile picture
they were still making good maytags into about 2000! when they started to make those norge machines into maytags that was the demise! I do like the front loaders and I have a LG and like it! they all take a long time to run today weather its top or front loader! was this maytag set you got in good condition when you got them?
did you have to do a lot of restoration?

This Maytag is mint!

maytag85's profile picture
The Maytag I have from 1983 has never got a restoration done, it was in vary good condition when I got it. The only thing I had to do was vacuum all the lint out of the dryer, and run the washer through a bleach cycle to clean out the washer. I really hope to get a Maytag washer and Halo Of Heat dryer one day, but the ones I have seen on Craigslist were either too far away. Or they were asking too much. In another thread, I was asking what a Maytag Halo Of Heat Gas Dryer burner looks like when starting up, and I have never seen or owned a Maytag Halo Of Heat dryer. I while back this summer, I saw a vintage copper tune Maytag washer and dryer for sale in Escondido on the San Diego Craigslist, the seller was asking $400.00. I also have seen a vintage Maytag washer and dryer on the Los Angeles Craigslist for $800.00. The Maytag that is in the laundry room replaced a Kenmore HE front load washer and dryer from 2006. Don't miss the front loader at all.

The version right before mine?

I just put my first Maytag into service, an A712. I'm told by the knowledgeable folks here that it was built in '84.

It has the brown buttons instead of tan, and is lacking the on off buttons for the soak cycle.

I've run probably five loads through it so far, and I must say that I am reasonably pleased so far. I've never been previously exposed to Maytag.

Mine was also free, from good friends. I disassembled and repaired the timer, and now the machine works perfectly as far as I can tell.

Top of the line Maytag.

Realvanman, yours is the Heavy Duty series. Mine is completely different. The dryer has a bell on it, and by the way, there is a matching electric dryer to the Maytag washer you have'on craigslist.

Nice machines! I love the 810, it's a rare and unique machine. I also like that contemporary Maytag design of the x10s and x12s. Great machines, thanks for sharing.

Love my Maytag!

maytag85's profile picture
This Maytag washer and dryer replaced a Kenmore front load washer and dryer from 2006. The Kenmore never had anything major break down, but what did was the door gasket. When the door gasket wore out, the washer would begin to put small holes in our clothes, and it would leak water. Don't miss the front loader at all. Ever since the Maytag was put into the laundry room, I have noticed that my clothes are cleaner, and smell cleaner, and are more fresh.

Modern Front Loaders

My mom has one, I don't even know what brand. Maybe LG, I think?

It does many things that I don't like! I don't trust it to clean clothes at all. Such that when I'm working on mine, and it is offered for use, I end up letting our laundry stack up instead lol.

The one redeeming quality is the spin speed. I don't know just how fast it goes, but man it *really* goes!

We don't miss our Kenmore front loader at all! Realvanman, if you don't like HE washing machines, check out jaykay18's "Wash Day Wash In" videos, he has two Whirlpool direct drive washers, and has "Detergent Day" videos. Jaykay18 and another YouTube user Sharkie626 talk about in the "Wash Day Wash In" videos how the new HE machines are terrible. You will have to go onto you and find it, I tried to put it in the link, but it is not working.

Looks like a Maytag dryer that would have gone with a Maytag A209 washer(BOL model). By the way, that is a Gas dryer, Gas are common in the US. Mine takes 45 minutes to dry regular load of clothes, and 55 to 60 minutes to dry a load of towels.
