Yes the washer is the a suds-saver model. Odd that they bought an 800 series 1957 Kenmore washer in white with a Lady Kenmore (900 series) dryer in pink. The washer is one step down from the LK.

Awsome Kenmore! That is a very nice 1957 Kenmore washer and dryer! It is interesting how the dryer has a 37,000 BTU burner, while most gas dryers have only a 22,000 BTU burner, but it must dry fast if it has that much of a powerful burner! The room heater option is interesting, but it would not be wise to exhaust a gas dryer indoors!

37,000 BTU burner
With many top loading washing machines then having poor extraction (final spin speed), that and or housewives were still using wringer washers, you needed all the heat you could get to dry things I shouldn't wonder.
Consider also fabrics were still lots of heavy cottons and so forth in the 1950's. Again you'd want lots of heat to get things dry quickly. | ||

Seller seems like a pretty reasonable fellow
Am willing to bet if someone approached him properly a deal could be worked out to meet at a certain halfway point.
While adverts mention the seller is willing to deliver within a certain radius, don't think a five hour trip each way is on his bucket list. However a drop off point (maybe another member?) or meet-up might work. Seller seems to know what he has and is more concerned about things going to a "good home", than making some sort of killing. His reasonable prices speak to that; I mean he's not one of those offering some clapped and rusted out heap for $$$$. | ||

$200.00 is reasonable for a washer and dryer from the 1950's. I wish I could get that Kenmore washer and dryer, but I live in SoCal. I have always liked how Whirlpool and Kenmore had the lint filter on top. These old dryers use belts and pulleys, but that might explain why they were quiet. I have a Lady Kenmore Portable Dryer that does a good job drying, and worked just as well as a full size dryer.

1957 Kenmores These would make a good project for someone, but they need a lot of work.
The 57 LKM gas dryer is fast, but these machines are anything but quiet but in operation.
I would go after the dryer if it were white as I need a donor machine to convert our 1959 LKM dryer to gas and the cabinets are the same on the LKMs from 1957-1960. | ||
