I think $300 for this range is a great price. It appears to be in good shape. Wedgewood before it became "cheap-a-fied". In Palm Springs. CLICK HERE TO GO TO twintubdexter's LINK on Palmsprings Craigslist

This would be a decent upgrade from the frumpy '40s Wedgewood my sister (in L.A.) has in her relatively newer kitchen. I hate it. Hers has two ovens though, and I can't be sure this one does. The oven controls on the PS range don't match. Maybe one side is a broiler, or maybe one control has been replaced? |

Having cleaned up enough of these to speak from personal but ancient knowledge (think grease an inch thick under the top and 2 or 3 bottles of Easy Off) the range for sale has a high broiler. Before it disappeared, Wedgewood joined the other gas ranges of the time...cheap, tinny things with warping aluminum burners. I believe they merged with Western Holly (Queen of the Western Range) near the end. The company was Wedgewood Holly located in Culver City California. Please remember I am no expert on anything so I could easily be wrong. Maybe the name is still around on something made in China or Korea.
All you would need to do is put a hand truck on the stove in the Craigslist ad that's for sale and a late model Wedgewood like this. One of them weighed a ton. Like my mom's attractive Gaffers & Sattler 2 oven, high broiler/rotisserie 6 pilot light range that replaced her Wedgewood, the beauty was pretty much skin deep.

That's unbelieveably cheap. I paid about $100 MORE than that back in the 80s for the same one for sale in PS....and everyone said I was nuts to spend that at the time. At least we see now that these things can at least hold their value, if not appreciate somewhat. Few, if any, new ranges will ever be able to show that.
