Is a used Maytag Neptune dryer worth $50?

My Kenmore dryer is only drying on the lowest setting and needs a new element. The dryer was a lemon from day one. I am not willing to put any money into it.
Have a chance to get a Neptune. Is $50 too much? Are they reliable? It will not get a great deal of use other than in the winter.
The dryer is not electronic. It has the push buttons and the dial.

that's seems like a fair price for a 3000/4000 series dryer......

never hurts to open it up and remove built up lint, and drop some oil on the rollers.....

digital or electromechanical, the base unit is still heavy duty.....

one nice thing of this design, the drum can be removed, reversed, and put back in....

sort of odd to tell you this, but these dry with best results if low temp is selected....as close to the 'soft heat' function of your Kenmore you will ever get...especially for minimum wrinkling.....high is fine for towels....

$50 is not bad if it is in good condition, the Neptune does have an electronic control, and if your Kenmore dryer needs a new element you have a venting issue, be sure to address this when switching out dryers.

Would love to hear what issues your KM had, who built it ? How old was it ? and what went wrong ?

I love my Neptune dryer. It's fast, not too loud, and really moves a ton of air.

LOL I LOVE that you said he has a venting issue! So many people think you're full of crap when you tell them that, but venting blockage is the cause of elements going out and slow drying more than 95% of the time.
