In less than a month we've seen examples of all 3 versions.  First Jerry's visit with Electronicontrol and his coppertone 800; the 9/21/2017 POD that was like what I had when my parents bought to replace the 1964 Norge in 1970; and now this version.

Wish the dryer was gas, I'd snatch 'em up.

Three questions

bajaespuma's profile picture

Why infamous? Is that washer standard or huge capacity? What kind of agitator might be in there?

It is Infamous because it's the same washer that member Jason lava and myself had as children growing up. Jason was very obsessed with this washer. It has a super Roto swirl agitator.

One thing I just noticed, Bob, was the extra switch to advance from soak to wash on the Madison WI set. I took a look at the photos of Mike's 800 (which I suspect is the first incarnation), and it only has a switch for the second rinse, and found another photo of the later 800 with the soak switch.

Do you remember which version you had?

Ben I made somewhat comparisons between the 3 when Jerry vizited mike and noticed. Ours had the extra switch.

The coppertone model (Pic 1) has a Pre Wash cycle preceding Normal but it doesn't have a Soak cycle.  I wondered for a moment why it needs a detergent dispenser with no Soak-to-Wash option but the Pre Wash (presumably including a drain and spin) is the reason.

Pic 2 has the full-meal-deal of Pre Soak and Pre Wash leading into Normal, thus the Soak selector switch.

The Avocado Kenmore set looks exactly like the one that one of my neighbors got in the Summer of '72. She now has a Kenmore set in Almond.

I contacted the seller and got a few more pics. They appear to be in great shape, and seller claims everything (incl. console lighting and dispensers) works as it should.

I'd love to have these, but they're really a bit too far away from me to make it possible. I'm posting the pics in the hope that someone closer can save them from being scrapped.

Surely that is still so much washing & drying for so little dough!
