How does one find out about washins?  Have seen one on YouTube.  In fact I have watched it many times.  Can't imagine a more fun time.

Hi Tommy.

Welcome. They are usually held randomly. There will be announcements when they are going to be held.

Thanks for the information.  Are there special requirements.  It is a dream of mine to attend a Washin.  It would be like a Christmas and  Birthday all at once to me.

Formal gatherings on national/international scale that last a full weekend are announced well in advance, RSVP response is requested, and a fee to help cover expenses.  Smaller regional or local gatherings may also be announced in advance.  Sometimes a couple/few local friends meet for a day/afternoon/evening and it isn't announced, and pictures are shared after-the-fact.

John Lefever (Combo52) has a warehouse/museum of appliances in Beltsville MD (where formal gatherings have been held in the past) and welcomes visitors at most any time but of course check with him first.

There was one about a year or so ago, that featured Bill Geist, from CBS this morning. There's a video somewhere.

Washins are usually announced right here in the Imperial Forum, normally one or two a year.
A regular reader can't miss knowing when and where.
See you there.

Also, if you are ever doing any traveling, post on here where you will be going. If there are any members in that area, the majority of us are usually good about inviting other members over to show off or play with the collections.

Make sure your real name and address can never be traced before you go. I know of someone posting a vacation to come back to a cleaned out home.

Not sure what you mean by non-traceable name and address.

Dont post your full name, address, or God forbid social security or credit card number on line, send a separate private e/mail as to who you are, etc for the wash in. Dont advertise you are going to be away ahead of time. Thats why those at the wash ins dont say much other than I'd love to be there until after and then post tons of great pictures. I know of someone that posted on Facebook that they were going on a vacation and were broke in and cleaned out. Better to be safe than sorry.
