Still a newby and this has probably already been discussed ad- nausea,  but I was wondering what your thoughts are concerning your favorite detergent, fabric softener and most all what you think of the Fabric Scent pacs and crystals that are added at the beginning of the wash.  Personally I am a Tide and Downey or Gain detergent and softener kind of guy.

Tide and Gain are fine with me but lately I've been using powdered Ariel (the Procter and Gamble Mexican stuff) along with Walmart's GV softener or Aldi's Tandil softener (both are made by Sun).

I can afford the most expensive crap, but look for the cheapest at Wally World. Still does my all my dishes, all my laundry just fine. I refuse to spend more for the same stuff at a higher price.

Due to skin irritations I'm currently using Dr. recommended All Free & Clear, I've seen better cleaning and whites are starting to yellow....this is after using 2 bottles. Positively cannot use P & G products, they break me out.

Still looking around for a good detergent, something that will eliminate 2nd rinse.
I have a T/L Speed Queen.
