Hi all, well another bargain the Servis easi logic cost me just 1p yes 1p off ebay as it was dead but i've fixed it and now its running as my main machine. It actually does everything i expect a machine to do and does it very well. The water levels are non existant but it cleans amazingly and rinses perfectly all in a very short time. I love the stainless steel outer tub and 4 paddles which make a lovely thud thud thud noise as it turns. Great choice of programs and spins much better than a 1600 hoover nextra at only 1400 rpm. Enjoy my vids! I'll probably move it on anyway soon and perhaps a silver new wave plus 5 would like to take its place. Eyes peeled!!!!

italian service

Steve,
Thanks for sharing this video with us. This is an interesting machine with lots of features and fairly quiet. I suppose this Servis range is made in italy and pricing of these machines is very attractive for the features. However reliability is only average. There are a lot of horror stories for bearings going and motors failing. Its a pitty that reliability is average because personally i agree with you that performance is very good both spinning and washing ( i used such a machine named as malber here on the island)and i have to say that performance is close to my miele navitronic which is 3 years old now. keep us informed for any new videos.

yes Servis have an average reliabilty rating in Uk though it is a budget machine. made in Italy, this machine has an Ariston heater and bog standard pump etc plus the stainless steel outer tub. it all seems pretty well put together inside compared to current Indesits and Hoovers etc much more substantial. bearing failures seem common on many brands lately i've seen many a zanussi,Lg etc fail in 2 years use. This machine really outperfoms anything i've had recently including my Miele which failed and cost an arm and a leg to repair. And for the price u can't complain about this one.

Steve, never thought I would say this but I am actually quite fond of that Servis. Only thing I'm not keen on as you know is the reliability & IMO they are plasticky, although in my opinion the modern Hotpoints seem to be worse made! Servis have always been quite good in the performance ratings - as far as I know they were there with A wash performance machines when you could only find A wash performance on German washers; and for the money you really can't complain on the features. Probably not suitable for a family machine - key factor for us in buying the new washer for mum was reliability, but if it wasn't for the bad press & if the reliability was improved I'm sure Servis would be hotsellers. But to be honest, for how much you can get them for you really can't complain about the reliability. At least you don't pay £450 for a pile of s**t as you can with a Hotpoint.

The videos are very interesting - the distributing looks interesting and I love the fill down the side of the door - the blue lights are doody too!

Thanks Steve

Very interesting video! I really love the faster than average distribute and the last spin after the intitial few short ones has a lovely smooth, fast acceleration to a decent speed. I have experience of a current Indesit and I don't think that they share the same motor - the Indesit is noisier. I may, of course, be wrong. The pump on the Servis seems quite loud or is that just the acoustics? Lovely washing noises and action and yes - the blue lights are great!

BTW what fabric softner are you using and what do you think of it? Are you happy with Ecover washing powder?

Thanks very much for the vid - enjoyed it. I'd like to know a little more about Servis - is it Merloni? Is it basically top end Ariston / Indesit? Purely on a price issue it must be less of a `premium' brand than current Hotpoint LOL.

Nick

servis

Steve,
what was wrong with your miele and what model is it?
i have a 10 year old W834 , 3 year old NAVITRONIC W 2888 and 2 week old W3923. The 10 year old one is doing 12 washes a week on average for 10 years now without any service callout yet. Lets see how the newer ones perform!

Hi Nick, This is a Merloni machine, Antonio Merloni that is not his brother Merloni Indes###t. It has a pretty unique motor which i haven't seen on any other machines it is round and sorry i can't remember the name at the mo(too much vino tonight). Most machines have a c.e set motor which is fitted to Lg belt drives, all indesist/aristons and many other brands. So this servis motor is very very quiet for a brush motor. Now the thing is you cannot buy the brushes from servis they do not sell them! have to get non original. The pump is noisy, its the same pump fitted to most machines but its noisy because there is a huge chamber with a coin catcher in it and the pump is near the back of the machine so the chamber runs to the front and therefore there is alot of acoustics generated in the cavern between.

I'm using Lidl's Adritt fabric softner which is good and quite thick. Ecover i've used alot. I hate the liquid but i find the powder good and it gets white grubby work shirts very clean as good as anything else. It doesn't disolve quickly so can get a bit stuck in some machines if the dispensers are poor but no probs in this servis or the new wave.

I've worked on many machines recently and as i said i like this because inside its well screwed together and is well designed with good access to main parts. You can adjust the motor easily and remove it easily, the module board is at the top of the machine so no water can drip on it and the heater is mounted at an incline on the back of the drum at about 5 o'clock so water cant drip on that either if the bearings leaked plus the heater has a plate bolted onto it and the outer tub to hold it in place so it cannot move at all.

There is a great selection of programs and its very very smooth. So well done for this one. the caress range was a disaster but his is great. I'm looking forward to getting down the shops and looking at the brand new Servis machines just out. they look fab with the new styling.

Miele2888

The miele was a W820 which failed on cottons wash but did everything else no problems. It went to the repair centre twice and came back the same so I took it apart and fixed it myself. faulty cold fill valve was making it to think it had a leak on the cottons program and shut it down but was £90 for the valve and that was trade price. Ouch! It also didn't clean well so i decided it had to go. I loved it but i would make sure if i had another it must have the 10 year warranty because the parts prices require a second mortgage.

... what a funny!

I wonder how you can consider good a Merloni's appliances, Ariston I mean...

Here Ariston it's the most popular brand, and people prefer them for their esterior shaping... don't know about the reliablity but who I know owned one, always has complained for frequent braking up...

Zanussi would be less beatiful but surely stronger than Merloni's ones

Anyway that's what has been in the past, maybe now they've become better...

Indesit are produced in Poland I heard, but they're so far better than Ariston ones, the Indesit FL combo then are the best combo on Italian market IMHO.

GoodBye
Diomede

PS. The first "Foundator Father" was ARISTIDE Merloni BTW.

Merloni 1 and 2

I don't consider Merloni Ariston Indesit appliances very good they have a terrible reputation in the Uk at the moment for breaking down. I've seen a fair few break in less than 18 months and hate trying to repair them because they go wrong again within no time. I prefer the older Indesits which used to be very reliableand solid .
The current Indesit Aristons although attractive looking they are very poor quality and cheap parts.

However I do like the Servis machines coming out at present made by the other Merloni company Antonio Merloni. People get them confused but Servis has nothing to do with Merloni Indesit its a seperate company and operates very differently.

Very nice videos there. Cool also you tell some about what the machine is going to do. etc. The machine looks similar to the Ariston machine we have at job. Maybe its the same with another name?

keep up the good work. I and others love seeing videos and i have myself done some vids too. Hope people here likes them as well.

Thank you fredriksam, I also have the full 1400 spin video to go on which i should do Saturday sometime plus i'll video the insides while its running so you can see the stainless steel tub and workings. I love the spin because it slows down before speeding up to full revs and its exceptionally smooth. The motor in this machine is an Idea motor which i'm not too familier with as i'ver never seen them before.

Servis slimline TL

I had the Servis slimline TL for some years and it was a very stable machine during the most violent spin cycles. It washed and rinsed very well and was a much better spin than the Hotpoint equivalent. My only complaint was that it was noisy and towards the end it refused to tumble any load over 2 kilos in weight!! That aside, whilst it worked, it was a very good machine and I think it is sad that they can't combine the functionality that Servis provide with the kind of reliablity and reputation that they had during the Twin Tub era - without a doubt, the Servis supertwin was the Rolls Royce of twin tub washers

Hi steve!
bk from holidays! well i was very scepticle when you first told me. i thought you'd lost your mind! lol. Having had a "merloni" servis & a Real Servis previously..i knew which was the greater unit....i hated my 1998 servis gem 800. it was a nasty effort.

however...on a positive side. i do think they're machines have improved. i just feel its essential to wash a full load. else things just bobble along the bottom of the drum and dont get lifted. i love those blue neons.

i always liked that side fill too!

thanks for sharing the videos...p.s i took another sneaky look at those new wave videos....:p i really miss mine!!!

Thanks Darren, well its running well and it may be shipped off to Devon this weekend to be lent to our holiday home whilst the Indesit Omega there undergoes some major repairs.
The New wave will be put into everyday use in the meantime and i'm replacing the door gasket in it this week so it will be in tip top order.

Look forward to seeing you and Jon next month when i visit and hopefully getting that timer outta Jons AEG for repair.

Hoovermatic- i remember those servis TL machines. They were good. I had the pleasure of using a servis Supertwin last year and i loved it. It sounded like a jet engine on spin but that was half the fun. Its been retired now and replaced with the Indesit Omega which has had some abuse recently and now requires reconditioning this week. What fun.
