A 1984 Whirlpool washer and matching dryer. My favourite niece Amanda, and her husband Dan just moved into a home and now were in need of a washer and dryer. Dans grandmother gave them a washer and dryer that she had not used for at least five years. Amanda was told that it was about ten years old. I told Amanda to bring it over and I would go over it and get it ready for use for them. They dropped it off and I got a surprise. I fully expected it to be a direct drive "shredmore" with a modern control panel. When Amanda arrived at my house she was disappointed, because the machine was over twenty years old. (1984) And I wasn't to pleased myself. However, when I opened the lid of the machine, I discovered it was a belt drive machine with a winged Super Surgilator! YAY!!! I explained to Dan and Amanda that this machine is a better design, easier on clothes, and more reliable than a ten year old Whirlpool anyway. So really they are better off, and both of them seemed to be in better spirits about using this set. This weekend I will remove the spin basket and clean the outer tub out, replace the drive belt, check for water leaks, check for shorts, ect. Then clean the machine up for them and give it a wax job. The machine looks like a well maintained "low mileage" one, so this washer and matching dryer should serve them well until they are ready for new machines. I will have Amanda post some photos, after the machines are installed in their home.

Best of all, as I told her, "you're in honey","just under the wire" Meaning in the club, of course!! LOL!!!

This is Amanda and Dan on their wedding day, in June 2003.She is such a pretty girl! I let them use my 1976 Eldorado convertible as the wedding car.

They have traveled all over the country to pick up items that I have bought. They love to travel, and I pay for all costs of the trip for them. It has worked out very well, and they both get excited about going, and also the treasure they have brought back home. Just showed them how the 57 Unimatic works tonight. They just loved it!

An old Caddy, right? Anyway, I'm happy for you. Belt drive Whirlpool's are the best. There's nothing like the woowoowoowoowoowoo of the belt drive. That's almost identical to the one I rebuilt when I was 17. I think you will be very pleased.
