I've had my Hoover Logic 1000 from new, and I've had very little trouble with it. So far I've been able to get parts for it, but the timer is proving almost impossible to find. My service engineer and I are spending hours online, but I'm rather disgusted to see people advertising these as being in stock, but then suddenly they aren't! (They're very happy to take your money though?!) I'm afraid Amazon is one of the culprits (they even gave me a firm delivery date! Then I noticed that my order said 'Not yet dispatched'!), as are two other well-known spares suppliers. Not good! :(
So I'm after a timer as a matter of urgency - does anyone have one hanging around on some distant shelf I wonder? The part number is 09057258 (and there seems to be a 'type' number of 88718022) - pic below. Alternatively, does anyone out there know how to mend one of these timers, or know someone who does? (The fault is the spin part of the cycle - it's getting missed out, and my engineer tells me a new or repaired timer is required. He's tried everything else, he says!) (Note - if the worst comes to the worst, and I can't find a timer, I'm probably going to pinch my mum's Hotpoint WMA31. In that case, I'd have a spare Hoover Logic 1000 hanging around at home - in good condition, but minus a working timer! - in case anyone was interested in it! ;) )

Hi.
Have you checked the brushes on the motor ? If these are worn the machine can miss out the spin. The brushes are still available. I have done a timer change on a Logic - it’s fairly straightforward as long as you are methodical in your approach - plenty photos of the connections before you remove them. These timers do pop up on ebay from time to time. I will keep a look out. In the meantime, I will check up the service product data to see if any other timers are compatible. If you have no joy in getting a timer, please give me a shout as I would be interested in the machine. Mike. |

Hi Mike
Thank you very much for your help. (I asked my engineer about the brushes - he said he's checked them!) I've spent all day sending out enquiries about the timer - all to no avail, I suspect... :-/ (Also enquiries about repairing my existing one.) I'm keeping my fingers crossed, but it's looking rather bleak right now? (Nothing on eBay unfortunately.) At this rate, you may end up with my machine yet! ;) |

Hello again, I've found the timer I took out a scrap machine same model as yours, unfortunately it's since reminded me that the machine may have got sick on a cycle somewhere (it was removed about 2 years ago) but I may be getting mixed up with other machines I've had. As I can't be certain I can send it to you as seen with no guarantee sort of thing. There appears to be 883 written on the timer, and a date for the 10th June 1988. . Or..
I will look at some Hoover service manuals I have and see if I have a new old stock timer somewhere, if anyone can provide a pre candy model number that'd help in the mean time. Attached is a pic of my used timer Chris |

..I have found a new old stock timer part number 09057258, pre Candy part number 679933.
I would be happy to sell it for £25 plus postage costs. If you'd like it then drop me an email (I think my email is public on my profile..!) and we can sort it out from there. Chris

Hi Chris and Gary - I didn't see your replies before replying to the other one!
Chris - I would be ecstatic with joy if you were to have the right timer! :-) (Part numbers and pic above.) I'm on the Hants/Surrey border - I could come and collect if you weren't too far away. Gary - thanks for your tip, I've just passed it onto my engineer. (I think he's checked everything there is to check, but you never know!) |

That's cool, just check with your technician that he has checked the pressure vessel (Id hope he has but you never know) and if he has and is certain its the timer then happy days, timer available!
Im just outside Southampton, up to you if you want to drive to collect it but postage is fine either way :) Chris |
