I ran the Miele last night after dinner.  This morning when I opened it up to retrieve the coffeemaker carafe, I found the upper rack (second tier for glassware, etc.) wash arm sitting on top of the items in the lower rack.   It was easy to figure out how to re-attach it, but I'm wondering what caused this.

If there's anything in the lower rack that might create an obstruction, I always give the upper arm a spin to make sure it clears.  The only thing I can think of is that maybe something shifted and blocked the arm, and somehow the connection point remained spinning while the arm wasn't, and the arm detached.  Or maybe it just worked itself loose over the 4+ years I've had this machine.  There's no good way to grip the hub where the arm attaches when tightening it, and I suspect it's a hand-tighten design.

This must have happened late in the game because there was a plastic cooking spoon with hardened cheese and other stuff stuck to it in this rack, and it came out clean. Any other theories on why this happened?

I cleaned the spray arm on our Bosch a few loads ago, wasn't carefull when reattaching it and the same thing happend. Probably just worked itself loose.

I've had it unscrew once, but that was after a few years, I couldnt find any reason why it'd come off.

We've had issues with dirty spoons lately, so I unscrewed the top Spinner for the cutlery tray last night to check for blockages. Initially I was disappointed that its now plastic on the latest models, the old one was entirely metal. The old metal one unscrewed from the unsecured pipe and could make very difficult to screw back on, I'd even had to pull the dishwasher once to do so.

The new one easily unscrews, the pipe stays secured and when you provide upward pressure on the spinner it locks to the nut and lets you tighten until its just tight enough and then stops tightening. Its a much better design than the old one.

I'll have to try the middle nut to see if it also has torque limiting as well.

The one we bought is in the link below, but it has just been Replaced by the G6927SSCIXXL which has a 58 minute fast wash guaranteed to clean the rust of a trailer hitch.

Hi Brisnat81,
When did you get your new dishwasher? When I lived in Melbourne, I had a G 5935 SCi which I left behind. Here in Sydney I have the G 2834 SCi. Even though this doesn't have QPW, I can replicate it with Light soiling + turbo option which lasts just over an hour. You can really hear the water movement in that program.
Cheers
Rod

We renovated the kitchen this year and after we'd bought all the appliances from the Miele Outlet, they rang me to let me know when the G6905 started to come through ex display. I got the Dishwasher and a door panel for $2599 instead of the $4K. We sold the G5XXX XXL we had as there was nothing wrong with it, it was just too enticing of an offer to pass up. The G2220 had been at mums since 2011 and the pump motor finally failed this year at the 13 year mark.

The one thing that does annoy me with the interface on the TOL models, is that you cant add options to Short like you could with the Mid spec 5000 series. If you select Short, you cant add intensive lower like you could before. I tend to just use Pots and Pans short instead if I need higher pressure on the bottom. The Sensor Short is about 1.15 connected to hot water for an average soil load. The other negative with the G6XXX series is that unless you get into the top two models the racks are pretty basic, unlike the 5000 Series SCU that was almost the Premium style racks. To replace it we had to go for a premium model to get the flexible racking.

Miele Repair had also mentioned the sensitivity on the touch controls of the G6927 is much better than on the G6905, I see what they mean, if you have damp hands or the angle is wrong you can wriggle your finger trying to get to a spot the screen detects the touch.

We had to replace all of our cookware for the new induction cooktop as we blew the power board twice. They were slightly off flat and that was apparently enough to do it. Most of the pans were all replaced under warranty and since we did the cooktop hasnt missed a beat. I was amazed at how flat the pans need to be.

We ended up leaving room to fit the Old Panasonic convection microwave under the bench as the functionality on the Miele combo oven in pretty 1970's really. Miele eventually admitted that its an Oven first that just happens to have a microwave built in. It has an old school magnetron that clunks on and off and items alternately boil and rest. If we'd paid full price I would've been highly annoyed, but we got all the cooking stuff ex display for 50% off RRP.

Nathan, thanks for the tip about pushing upward to tighten the arm.  I saw what looked like gears/teeth on the hub, so now that makes sense.  I think I got it tight enough, but will give that try.
