When parents were at university~mid 1970s,the Laundromat buildings were equipped with ~1968 WPs(6 IIRC)and a pair of older westy front loads that were usually "out of order":)

Surely, branded both Whirlpool and Kenmore.  Some laundromats around this area had them.  There's a Picture-of-the-Day touting Whirlpool coin-op dry cleaning machines that also shows belt-drive toploaders.

the laundry room in an apartment building I lived in had the BD washers and they had some WP dryers stacked. These replaced the turquoise SQ washers the place had before. Then Amana based SQ washers replaced the WP BD.Then I moved to a different apartment house-they had GE washers with the ramp agitators and rim flo filters. No lint dishes.

My dad did the service work for a laundromat north of here. They had circa 1965 Frigidiares, and Whirlpools.

How well did these machines stand up to the abuses of being a commercial washer vs something like a MT or solid tub SQ of the era?
