if closer would love this! typically the thermostatic burner works well too, at least my old pink 40" '56 did.

This is a 55

I don't think the Super Calrod came out until 56.

What a Rolls Royce for a kitchen

The side panels aren't stainless steel. Not that that would be a deal killer, but they look like Cadet Blue Porcelain.

I've always loved all these vintage 40" double oven stoves, both gas and electric. They were targeted for the people who actually cooked right before the advent of Julia Child.

They were also made for kitchens with little counter or cabinet space such as existed in construction in this country well into the 20th century. I have seen pictures in shelter magazines of the 30s and 40s of women making cakes with the mixer on the work space on the side of the cooktop which was one of the space utilization advantages of the cooktop with the elements clustered on one side. A lot of work was done at the kitchen table.

Hans, what's the price and condition of the ranges like this in the furniture stores near you?

I think Hans has said in the past those in the furniture store in his home town appear the owner isn't interest3ed in selling them.  If they were, I would imagine Hans would have already had one of these in his kitchen.

Thanks. They are unique, but a little weird looking just the same.
