Nice, well appointed range. I was giving some thought to inquiring about it but I really don't need another. That's got to be the last year or very close to it for Woodtone brown. I believe 1963 was the first year for Coppertone which replaced Woodtone.

The ad says it's a J485Y model, and to the best of my knowledge, this indicates a 1964 model. Shaded Coppertone was introduced on the '62 models, and I'm thinking Lawrence (Pulltostart) has documentation that Woodtone Brown was offered concurrent with the Shaded Coppertone until the '65 models.

I originally wrote 1962 as the first year for Coppertone and changed it to 1963. I remembered it was one or the other but wasn't sure. I wasn't aware the two colors were offered at the same time for three years. I thought Coppertone replaced Woodtone. Thanks for the information.

My 1962 catalog includes a page on Textolite patterns and colors and how they relate to appliance colors.  They illustrate the 4 General Electric kitchen colors as:

  Woodtone Brown and Copperfinish

  Petal Pink

  Canary Yellow

  Turquoise Green

Elsewhere in the catalog there are references to "Dark Coppertone".

My 1963 catalog has the same page, but no reference to "Copperfinish" but elsewhere in the catalog there are references to "Dark Coppertone".

My 1965 catalog has the same page, but the appliance colors are:

  Woodtone Brown

  Petal Pink

  Canary Yellow

  Turquoise Green

Elsewhere in the catalog there are references to "Dark Coppertone".

My 1966 catalog has the same page, but the appliance colors are:

  Woodtone Brown

  Dark Coppertone

  Canary Yellow

  Turquoise Green

Thanks for the information. Do you know if 1966 was the last year for Woodtone? I thought 1966 was the first year for Avocado?

Ken,

I have to assume that was the last year for Woodtone.  And yes, Avocado was introduced during the 1966 model year.

Funny your 66 catalog doesn't list Avocado. Maybe it was introduced later in the year?

Sigh....

really like this one, it's only about an hour away, it's a "kitty-proof" button model, but really shouldn't, even though a 40"er like this is my favorite, no P7 notwithstanding...sigh.

I think you should save this. It even still has its original griddle, meat probe and rotisserie equipment. If I didn't already have six 40" GE's Id inquire on it as I don't have one in Woodtone.

This really is a beautiful range, I hope one of you in the area will save it... woodtone is a really unique color, and this is a great range to use!

I agree with you Ken...

but it's woodtone not real coppertone, to match my KA and other stuff in the "reserve", plus I want to survive at least until after the holidays lol!
Also with a move in the near-future and those "extra" appliances already in the shed, well, as they say, discretion is the better part of valor!
