Opinions please...Just out of interest this is as my darling mother has purchased one of these machines (awaiting delivery). Not a common choice granted...but I would be interested in your thoughts, mainly one thing though.

Technologically advanced washing machine of the future or a gimmicky fake?...

Lavamat_Jon...Please feel free to do one of your famous War and Peace renditions, I don't doubt it will make for interesting reading.
Pic at the bottom for those of you who haven't got a clue what on earth I'm blabbering on about.

Jon's on holiday

But we did chat about these machines once and I think he reckoned they weren't bad, I haven't got a clue. They are a different kettle of fish to the BOL Gorenje which make Danby in the US, as far as I know. It looks fun and cool though -let us know how you like the machine if your mother ever lets you have a tinker.
Regards Nick

Looks a lot like the Kleenmaid KFL1600 sold here as a premium machine. Though I am often amazed at the prices Kleenmaid can charge for machines that are pretty ordinary underneath the hype.

Chris.

Hiya

I was surprised that it was Gorenje and not someone like Miele or AEG to get to 2000rpm first!

It seems flash with the touchscreen display and motorised dispencer opening, but i dont know how good it is on reliablity ?!

I think Gorenje machines are quite good. I haven't read any bad reports about them and most of their stuff comes with 5 years parts and labour !! warranty. Can you imagine a Hotpoint with 5 years parts n labour. No!

I like the designs but its one of the few machines i've never tested out so please do get a video of it running.

Steve (ducks for Jons Miele rant)

Hi Saj

I have spoken to a few independant dealers in UK selling these machines and so far no probs, seems to be selling as a niche/different machine from the standard manufacturers...

Personally I cant see how faster we need to go than 1600/1800 rpm for spin efficiency and bearing compatability.

Saj - they are very smart machines actually and I love the look of them. Haven't seen one in person yet unfortunately, but I've seen the quality of Gorenje refrigeration and cooking appliances, and of their tumble dryers that they make for Bosch, so I would have no worries about a Gorenje washing machine. My only personal annoyance with them from reading the manuals is you can't do a 50*C wash even on the 2000rpm model with the display, but then that's not really an issue seeming as 50*C is disappearing fast off modern washers nowadays.

Jon
