Is this ad from the late 60's?   Early 70's?

When I first looked at the photo (before I got to the text) I thought these might be JC Penney branded machines, I was surprised to see they're Norge.    I don't remember seeing this ad before, nor have I ever seen Norge portables like this, pretty neat.   The ad claims it will handle "a 10 lb load", but I seriously doubt it.

In a thread from 2014 when this 21" non-portable, TOL 21" Norge washer (below) was found in Arizona, John Lefever commented a 6 lb load was a much more realistic capacity.   I got to briefly play with this neat little washer, while in AZ.   I assume both washers (portable & non-portable) are the same mechanically.

The washer below went to John's appliance museum in Beltsville, MD.

Hmm - a Norge Filter-Flo?

I saw the handle on the front of the Norge portable and immediately assumed it must be a front-loader, but apparently not!

I've seen today's POD a couple of times, but didn't know they also made a non-portable 21"; nor have I ever seen the inside of one of a mini-Norge. Thanks so much for posting the photos, Kevin.

funny how that tub/agitator resemble Whirlpool's World Washer that came out....

not an actual FilterFlo, that spout in the back is for filling....but it does offer Norge's traditional Burp-o-lator Filtering....

cool little machine.....

The 21" Norge Washer

Thanks for reviving the Norge thread, This Norge was recently rebuilt and is now fully functional polished up and tested with around 20 full loads of laundry.

This Norge used the same transmission, main bearings and seals, water pump etc. The tubs, agitator cabinet etc were all down sized and they used a sensible 1/3 HP motor instead of a 1/2 or 3/4 HP motor like the full sized models.

Rebuilding this machine was a royal PITA and proved everything I have always said about the repairable of Norge washers. This machine had a leaking main seal and bad main bearings, with the strength and help of Jason and Sherwin and an oxygen acetylene torch we eventually got it apart and reassembled, I hope to NEVER do another.

Here are some pictures of the machine as we started to take it apart, I need to take some of the finished product.

My sister had the 21" or 24" TOL stationary version of the washer and companion dryer included in a condo she bought in like 1973 or 1975 in a San Francisco suburb.  It lasted until the late 1980s.

Martin, THANKS for posting the video! I was looking for it but didn't know exactly where to find it.

John, fantastic to hear you guys got around to rebuilding this little gem, even though it was such a P.I.T.A.   I really like this little machine as it makes all the "clunks, bangs" and other noises the full size Norge makes!  Plus how can you not love that Burp-o-lator!
