Spent the weekend with some friends at their 1985 vintage home and the kitchen had Magic Chef appliances-elec cooktop, wall oven, trash compactor(?), and a dishwasher. The outside slightly resembled an old Hotpoint like I used to have in an apartment. I got to noticing that the inside of the machine didn't lack much being a duplicate of my GE. Was MC dishwashers made by GE? I always thought that they were a D and M machine back during this time period. How weird. Tell me about it experts!

I have seen some Tappan and Tragic Chef d/w's from this time that were sourced from GE. Amana sourced dishwashers from GE for a while too.

Thanks Greg for giving that bit of info. The only other Tragic DW I have seen was a 1978 model that was in my Dad's house. I think that was a D&M as it resembled a Caloric. They replaced it with a KA when my stepmom wanted all new appliances (the house was a repo and not in the greatest shape in the kitchen). My stepmom replaces her appliances every 10 years whether or not they are still working. The KA was replaced with a Maytag (for some reason she hated it), then it was replaced with a recent model KA. She seems to like it. And to think I kept my washer for 16 years. Hope this didn't stray too far from the Imperial topics.

Had a Magic Chef dishwasher at the old condo along with the matching smoothtop range. Circa late 1980's. That dishwasher was definitely a rebadged GE.
