Per the ad: "This is a mint condition item. It runs as quiet as a sewing machine and hasn't any exterior or interior damage. Looks as it did the day it was manufactured. I also have all the paper work from the instruction manual to a mail in advertisement. A unique item for the right buyer or collector."

I believe the unit is newer than the 1966 date the seller is claiming.  I believe the date code (AA) in the serial number is going to make this a 1977 appliance.  I don't think GE was making trash compactors in 1966.  Still, a nice find.

Hi Lawrence, you are correct GE did not sell a compactor till around 1970 and their orignal design was stolen from WP and GE lost the court battle and came out with these round bucket models around 1974.

This is a nice example of a GE round bucket, but I don't think it is worth more than a $100 and in Mississippi they will probably be lucky to get more than $35 for it.

Wow! We had a GE compactor just like this when I was a brat! I think ours was a 1975 model as it appeared in the kitchen not long after a harvest gold range and refrigerator were purchased in late 1974. I remember the arguments over which colour panel to display - gold to match the range & fridge or coppertone to match the dishwasher.

Yes, Whirlpool was the first trash compactor manufacturer (quickly making them for Sears, as well)...

So, the idea of GE making them in '66, would be impossible...
