That fridge is the same as the one in my parents kitchen except it's Harvest Gold bought new in 1974. Been in constant use since then without one problem or repair. Looks like part of both handles are missing on the one above.

There does not seem to be any missing pieces on the handles. What you think is missing is actually the color is blending into the fridge. It looks like the same color green just plastic trim.

The handles on GE refrigerators from that time period were dark wood grain from the factory. I still think there's a piece missing from both handles. If the handles are there and are green they were painted by the owner. Here's a couple pics of a GE from the time period. In the first pic the GE is on the right. The second is a little newer as the handle goes all the way to the bottom of the door.
