I will post tales of my efforts to clean, modify, and compare this machine to it's infamous FL sybiling. Something tells me sometimes cloths just need to go for a swim. Another part of me feels like i just bought a car with a carburetor.

Curious as to your comparison to it's Front Loader sibling. Liking the carburetor reference as well. Jeff |

Yes it's used, built June 2009. No way I would pony up the $ for a new machine again. For us this is an alternate or back up machine. No worries about the lack of speed options, we do a simple wash around here. Spot pre-treated mixed cotton, warm or hot depending on contents. Add detergent and baking soda and we’re good to go.

Yup- thats the real deal. Looks to be in great shape. It might be 9 years old, but thats peanuts in Queen land.
Single Speed will be fine for the basic stuff. As is unless you get the TOL model (the one with the speed selector), the cycles that use low speed are way to gentle for effective cleaning and always have a short slow final spin. IE, delicate on mine is slow/slow, however the agitation in the wash is only 4 20-30 seconds of agitation and the final spin is 4 minutes of slow speed measured from the start of draining- only good for the most delicate items. SO long story short I uses the normal cycle (fast/fast) all the time. |

Holy crap, it's raining SQ's in San Diego. I just picked up a awn412 set with gas dryer for a very reasonable sum. Same vintage as the 311 above but appears to have had less use. They will be used in the garage and I will sell the 311 on. Below is linked a handy guide concerning the features of each SQ TL model. Congratulations on the Speed Queens. Surprising folks are giving those up at the same time washers are changing to meet DOE regs. Like that awn412 for the garage be great for rags and dirty work clothes. But I want to add an FL front loader for bulky stuff first. Love to find a 20 or 22-pound commercial front loader in good condition and my 9 series FL as the daily washer.
If you using the normal mode that must mean yours was made before spray rinse in normal load became a thing. Normal is the only one I don't use. |
