Rodrigo,

Excellent collection, those look like very fun machines! Of course the Lavinia Westinghouse is my favorite! Interesting how instead of the rear basket filter on the American machines, it has a side-mounted bag filter. I also noticed that the GE has a thicker clothes guard than the American models, as well as the larger 11" Filter-Flo pan. Over here those machines came with the smaller pan. And that white Roto-Flex agitator is too neat...have only seen the gold version!

Thanks for posting!

Hi Rodrigo, I am so very impressed with your collection, you must be so proud! Thank you so much for posting your pictures, this is so exciting to see vintage Brazilin automatic washers! I’ve never seen a white Roto-Flex agitator before and that Agitator Cap that says “SUPER AGITADOR” is SUPER COOL! Did anyone notice the underside of the lid on the Brastemp washer, its speckled porcelain, another thing that I have not seen before on a Whirlpool design washer. The lint filter is also different. The “Filtro-Magic” mix lint filter on the turquoise Brastemp is very fun as well. The Lavínia is also just beautiful!

Rodrigo, where in Brazil do you live? I’m going to add a link to your photo’s under our Photo’s of Collections Button Right now.

Rodrigo,

Thank you for sharing the pictures of your collection. The Brastemp set is awesome, love the pattern on the control panels. Does the washer only have a timer or are there other buttons or dials too? The turquoise machine is nice too. Are these machines belt driven?

Hi Louis and Jon

The white Brastemp washer has other model with water level and temp dials, like Brastemp turquoise, but is rare.

All mechanism is belt drive. The mechanism Brastemp & Westinghouse washers in Brazil are identical American Whirlpool & Westinghouse.

And Jon, Tide is Omo in Brazil. Is the best detergent.

Thanks

Rodrigo

It is my great dream to have my collection in the “Photo’s of Collection”.

Well its there now Rodrigo, and you certainly deserve it!! Your line up of vintage machines is so great! By the way in picture #11 you say "My Brastemp Washer 1965 (customized), with console 1978". So what did the 1965 control panel of the Brastemp look like?

Also where in your house are your machines, is this a garage or basement?

Post# 146274 , Reply# 29   7/31/2006 at 21:08 (6,477 days old) by bestcleaning ()
Hi Robert

Now I have TWO great conquest: Kenmore set and my collection in the Automaticwasher.org. Thank you very much.
My collection are in my basement. My Brastemp washer is “customized” because I’d like a vintage washer (lateral lid open) and a beautiful console (my favorite console). And I made it.
The Brastemp 1965 is approx. like this.

1970 Frigidaire? What that be rollermatic or 1-18? The panel "looks" 1-18.

BUT these washers look like a WP set. What's up with that? No... they can't be WP machines. They're GM Frigidaires.

Those are definitely Whirlpools...look at the lid and even the front cabinet design on the washer. Rodrigo mentioned earlier that the inside was a Brastemp (Whirlpool) machine. Strange since they were called GM Frigidaire and not just Frigidaire. I guess for every part of the world, the design is different; for example the Australian Pulsamatics. I wonder if the Surgilator had a Frigidaire cap?

So now what should we call them, Frigipools or Whirlydaires? All I know is with that Rapidry 525, it certainly has the Pulsamatic beat as the slowest-spinning Frigidaire in existence! ;-)

Hey guys. This is the Frigidaire General Motors W&D made by

Translating.
Much water goes to roll before it appears a set like this. The Frigidaire Washer washes for agitation and dries for spin. It comes equipped with selector of water level, selector of temperature and lint filter. In half hour the clothes are clean and ready for the drier. The drier has capacity for 5kg of wet clothes. You just to regulate the time and the temperature and to forget. When the clothes will be dry the machine will be off automatically. Places this double to act in its laundry room. And rests.
Inside washer is exactly like this. Same tub. Same agitator.

My best shot at a translation:

"A lot of water has to go under the bridge before a pair like this shows up. Frigidaire machines wash by agitation and damp dry by spinning. It's equipped with a water level selector, temperature selector and a filter that removes lint and other impurities. In less than an hour, clothing is clean and ready for the dryer."
"This dryer can handle 5 kg of wet clothing. When clothing is dry, machine shuts off automatically. Put this pair to work in your laundry room. And relax."

Are dryers very common-place in Brazil?
Mostly gas or electric?

Te he he he I think it is funny how we (of all people) who understand re-badging are so amazed at how and when it takes place elsewhere, when it is new(s) to us.

Funny how Frigidaire worked a deal with Whirlpool. Who knew?

Imagine the shock we would have if visiting in Brazil back in 1970, walking into an appliance store to browse around and spying the Frigidaire/GM named appliances-----and opening the lid!!!!
