Well, I am having those issues right now.
I might being I have the time open a new email and dump Yahoo. I know changing out a email address is like trying to change your DNA but I really have had enough. I love how they change the format without warning. Anything out there better than GMail ??? Any thoughts are appreciated. Or are they all the same ? |

Been having the same problems with yahoo mail for the past week or so. Also having problems with yahoo groups where all the files in our group (Lowrey forum) have disappeared again. They disappeared about 3 weeks ago and it took over a week before yahoo got them back...now they are gone again. Yahoo keeps making 'enhancements'...yeah right.
I also have been using gmail for several years and have never had a problem with it. Gary |

I had this trouble with Firefox this past weekend. The window would abruptly close after loading, or sometimes even before loading was complete. Then it spread to other browsers I tried, but only Firefox actually gave me a screen that said they were having trouble.
We had visitors that day, so I didn't return to the scene of the trouble until that night. The machine was asleep, but it wouldn't wake up. I had to do a hard shut-down. Apparently some sort of MS update had occurred and was impacting functionality of all browsers. Once the machine came back up, things behaved normally. Usually MS pushes out their updates on Tuesdays, so I don't know why this one happened on a Saturday.
Seeing as how Yahoo has been so lame for so long, I'd not be surprised if it's a problem on their side, but the MS update probably has something to do with it. |

My last MS update wiped out my AOL, printer, camera and several others, hid it an Edge icon but would not restore those things and this was on a Friday evening. So I had to re-install all of it. Last time I went to Yahoo news last year, I got that Internet Security Warning scam pop up. I have had the same AOL e/mail address from back in the dial up days and never wanted to change it.

I have no issues with Gmail. I ditched Yahoo years ago because their whole system was so sloppy with surprise GUI changes and other annoyances, like the process to read a news article and the fact that the articles were riddled with links to fake advertising "news" stories. I still have an account with them, but I rarely check for e-mail anymore. When I do, it's all spam. Some people like hotmail. I've never tried it.
Judging from the posts made after my initial one above, I'm guessing this is all about the mysterious MS "Weekend Update." They tend to roll these releases out over an extended period, so some may be past it while others are just noticing the issues. I think this caught the ISPs and browser programs off guard.
The only weird thing I've noticed that one wouldn't think has anything to do with a software update is that my wireless router's signal seems to have permanently lost a bar. It had consistently been full strength, but after this update thing, it's bumped down a bar. |

Better then Gmail how?
Personally I can't think of an online email service that holds a candle to Gmail. I do still have a Yahoo account, but that is only ever the one I give out at retailers that want to sent me the receipt (and gratuitous SPAM also). Comparing Yahoo to Gmail is laughable, Yahoo is awful. I used to have a POP mail account through my ISP but after a couple years with Gmail I decided I don't need anything else. |
