I was watching the 1955 film "The Desperate Hours" with Humphrey Bogart and Fredric March the other night and spotted what appears to be an early 50's ABC washer in the laundry room of March's house. It had the same window lid and lid handle that Robert Unimatic's 49 model has and same front cabinet. It had a back splash with the two control knobs placed on top of the splash (much like the early 60's Maytags had the temp switch for the spray rinse) and a small window on the console under each knob with the cycle and temp selections. Wash temp on left and timer on right. Has anyone seen photos or come across one of these machines? I'm guessing it must be a 52 or 53 model. It's always fun to spot a vintage machine in an old movie or tv show.

Good spotting - it is indeed an ABC or Kelvinator from about 1953'ish

ABC Washer

Is this the washer The Jackson 5 would have had in their house? Sorry couldn't resist.
