I picked up the KUDS22 yesterday. It's in pretty good condition and runs great. Unfortunately after running my first load and sitting for a couple hours there was quite a bit of water on the floor. It appears to be leaking from the top of the motor. The tub seal area feels dry. Looks like its been leaking for quite a while. The guy said it "runs like a gem"... he never mentioned it leaks

I'm so bummed...

Leaking Shaft Seal

You need to rebuild the pump and replace the main shaft seal before the motor gets real noisy and you destroy the motor.

This is usually not to difficult a job to do and the seal can still be found, in fact the same shaft seal also fits WP and MT DWs during the same time period.

Thanks John.

Is this the shaft seal? Do I need to remove the motor to replace the seal? I've never done this before.

You are almost there, the shaft seal is pressed into the SS part that spins [ drain impeller ] remove the SS plate over this part by removing the remaining screw and then the drain impeller can be pried off the shaft, you can either try to find the impeller and seal kit or just replace the rubber and carbon seal that is pressed into this impeller.
