Hi fellow washer friends, Kenmore made a wringer washer in the pre-visimatic days that was the roundest smoothest machine I have ever seen. The wringer itself was almost a half of circle!!! can anyone tell me more about those pre-visimatics at all? I have a 1964 pink visimatic that is one of the machines in my collection that folks always like, along with my dexter quicktwin that is. any info would be welcome. thanks Bill the drycleaner

My Kenmore is the same model as the bottom middle one. These were definitely pre-visimatic.

Bradross restored one and he has noted how amazingly quiet his machine is. Wayupnorth has one, too. I was surprised to learn last year that at some point even these 50's models came in a Visimatic version. The one in the picture I tried very hard to acquire last year, but it all went to feces.

Try to get pictures up of your Dexter. Not too many people here have one, and by the way, they did not come with filters. Think about it. Two tubs, one pump, one hose, which one would you filter? And with no hose holder on the machine, due to the design with no available place to put it, the hole in the lid was for hose storage when the machine was pulled away from the sinks. Could be mistaken about this, but haven't seen or heard about a filter in these many years of Dexter/Philco fascination.

I bought this for $65.00 from a second-hand store in Port Orchard, Washington in 2013. It was in good working order, except the pump needed cleaning and servicing. Made a new gasket for the pump housing and replaced the rubber band on the drive wheel. Also, fabricated a replacement decal for the front of the tub.

You can see for yourself in the YouTube video how quietly it runs!

First pic ... cast aluminum agitator.
Second ... pump drive wheel and rubber ring on motor shaft.
Third ... me and the machine when I bought it.

Cool to see the three vane in metal before the black "porcupine,"(smile). The before and after pix of your restoration are striking. Will need your help fixing a wringer soon. Brad, your 48 is out there in the either. Someone posted a pic of it on my Facebook page, but I haven't caught up yet to see how he happened upon it. I'll let you know. Check it out. He's not an Aworger.
