This dryer popped up on Craigslist this week. It was located in Hot Springs and I drove over after work to seal the deal. The guy had sold his house in Tyler Texas and moved everything to their Hot Springs home. I’m pretty excited to get it and wish I had the matching washer!

What preventative maintenance should I do before I plug it in? He mentioned it had been several years since it was last used.

Unless you want to take it all apart and do a little cleaning and lubricating, but if it runs fine and does not make strange noises, there is little to gain and a good chance that you might do some harm unless you are very skilled at rebuilding WP built dryers.

PS it should be almost exactly the same age as you.

Thanks John. I was going to vacuum it out and make sure no critters had made a nest in it. I wasn’t sure if anything needed lubricated due to age and lack of use. I have mastered quite a few repairs on Whirlpool/Kenmore electric and gas dryers over the years.
