Jackson ... shoot, for $10,000, you could have bought sets of all of these!

Now, wouldn't that have been cool? :-)

No Robert, you'd buy a 1950 Apex Wash-A-Matic and 24,000 boxes of Tide :)

Neat picture, Wouldn't it be fun to know who had won these prizes and what kind of machine they picked? Terry

Blackstone or Kelvy?

OMG! I wouldn't know which one to pick. If I was a typical housewife from the 50s, I'd probably get the Kelvy. But if I would know then what I know now, I'd get the Blackstone.

I`ll take the Kelvinator, as I`m not familiar with the One Minute and Laundry Queen models. :(

Blackstone for sure...

With the money, I'd buy all the kitchen appliances. It's curious that Frigidaire isn't offered as a choice. It was probably the tangling.

One Minute, Laundry Queen, Coronado, Wizard, Firestone and Caloric were all Beam Mfg. machines - essentially the same inside. Even the Easy and Speed Queen could be added to the list of Beam machines, but for a few differences in clutches, etc., they were all similar.

Hotpoint is missing too, perhaps The Nelsons were allergic to Tide.

I'd definitely go with the super-cala-splash-ariffic KELVINATOR. I choose that over the ABC simply because I like the name Kelvin.

seeitrun---You're going to have an 11 year wait for that Westy, man. The contest was held in 1955, LOL! Nice choice of machine, though. Those vintage Westys are tres cool.

Re; What washer I would pic?

From the ones I would pic It would be G.E., Easy, Speed Queen, and probably Kenmore. My Grandma Francis had a Kenmore and I liked it better than the one my Mom had. Since it was in 1955, and it would have the Preggers Roto-Swirl, which rolled the clothes over better than the Super Roto-Swirl of the 1960's. What is ever more suprising is the fact that they didn't offer Norge either or Frigidaire. What gives with that? I would like to Know. Two of the biggest names during the 50's and you would have thought that they would offer them as well. Unless the Gambles Coronado was a Norge rebadge at this time, or how about Montgomery Wards?

Whirlpool is also conspicuously missing.

Back up from 1966 to1955

Good catch there frigilux!

Let change that to a 1955 Westinghouse slant front laundromat.

Peace
